If you mean the dent thing in the bottom it's a punchout to allow getting the wires into the box from the bottom instead of the side. The clamp thing will hold the wire either way.

but thats the one with 10-32 machine screws that will hold it against the ceiling 2x4. you mean, i will also have to clamp the wires below this to hold its place and use the same screws to mount the box to the ceiling?

No, usually the side punch out is used to route wire if it is being installed against a 2x4 above it.
Screw to hold box to top goes through holes near top of your arrow.
Machine screw is only for the clamp.

The NORTH
2 is the ground screw and 3 is the hold down screw for the wire coming into the box.

Should you really be using this product if you can't even sort out the ground screw???

1 is to screw to an overhead joist. The 4 holes on both sides are for sidemount installation

3 - is to screw down the clamp to keep the wire in place (this is the same for the opposite side that has a clamp as well)

2 - is for the ground wire.

The 10-32 screws are in the "ears" located at the top right and bottom left corners in your image. You did not number these in your image. They are used to hold the lamp/fan fixture to the box. They are not used for mounting to a joist or stud.

The cable has to be clamped as it enters the box, and that is what screw #3 is for (as well as the clamp/screw on other side of the box).

The two holes near #1, and probably 2 more under the sticker, as well as the 4 holes on the left and right side of the box are used to fasten the box to the wood. You use whatever holes will work for you depending if you are mounting to the side of the box, or from the top of the box.

that box would normally be side mounted with the 4 holes on either side, the holes that are larger are popouts for electicrital wire, but yeah, this is a "spend 200$ and hire an sparky" job OP as you are in way over your head already.

You spent 35k on your basement, and another 3.5k on your sunroom...
you could used the money for your new Ryobi set and workbench and paid an electrician and had this fan up a month ago.

I know you have to learn at some point, but this is just painful.

+1 that you learned to post still pictures instead of videos....I never bothered to watch any of the videos from your earlier posts.
