Feedback on woodfireplace

Hello EVeryone,
I have the wood fireplace as shown in the picture in the home I will be moving
I was thinking to change it to Electric fireplace
However, before I junk this wanted to get feedback from experts on fire place.
Is this wood fireplace better or electric fireplace. ALso, what could be the value of this if i have to sell it.

Thanks,

I would much rather have a wood fireplace insert like that than electric, assuming the chimney is currently up to snuff. Electric == :ick:

Personally I'd money covering the surround and put a nice new mantle/shelf in place (don't remove the brick, just cover it with a new finish structure.)

If it's a family property it would be a burn hazard to have younger children in the room when in use .

Amazing how we all survived growing up with fireplaces in the house and fire pits in the yard.

Electric will be a minus for most (including me). If you're converting, go gas.
