Fender bender. I said if his company is willing to pay for the repairs we dont need to get insurance involved.

Is this the right way to go?

Today at the drive through a driver in a company car "let go of my break" and slammed into me. I took pictures and all that jazz, but I told him we dont need to get insurance involved if his company is willing to pay for the damages.

He said he will have to wait and ask his boss on Monday, but in the mean time I didn't report the accident to an auto-collision centre. Is this a good route to take or should I simply go through insurance and leave it at that.

Personally I'd report it.
If you're in ON (not sure how it is in other provinces sorry), there's a certain threshold that has to be met (not including your deductible) so if you're under it, you're fine and can still do it w/o getting your insurance involved.

The reason for this is, is if the guy that hit you drags his feet and stalls, it'll be harder for insurance to help you and more of an overall pain to deal with.
You could simply, give them a heads up and if you work it out with this guy, then you just withdraw the claim. Now if he jerks you around, then your insurance has already been notified and has the information.

A company like Bubba Gump’s Landscaping? Or like a major corporation listed in the TSE?

I would give them until Tuesday Evening to get back to you, if they agree to pay you go to the bodyship on Wed & get a quote & send it to the company & they have until Friday to pay the full quote. If not you go through insurance no questions asked. This way they cannot jerk you around, you lay down the law (Dates) and if its not resolved by Friday noon you call your insurance. Simple as that.

Not all people will try and take advantage of you, some people/companies will be smart enough to pay up and get it resolved ASAP before insurance gets involved yet others are just dumb and abuse nice people like you.

What is the reason you're not reporting to your insurance?

How much is the damage? Is it more then $2000 combined damage? you should report it to the collision centre within 24 hours. You were rear ended right? So not you fault

Edit: sometimes it is hard to estimate the damage. Depends on the car sometimes. If sensors and things like that got damaged it could get costly.

BIG MISTAKE #1 - I told him we dont need to get insurance involved if his company is willing to pay for the damages.

BIG MISTAKE #2 - I didn't report the accident to an auto-collision centre.
Small edit of your original post to show where you failed after your fender bender incident.
Trust nobody. Collect all info, straight to collision reporting centre. The tip people don't know is that at Collision Rep. Centre before you startl, tell them you are doing report without notifying insurance company. By default they have that box checked off, but if you ask they clear it. You have police report within required time frame and you can decide later if you want to make the claim. Unless you have sour relationship with your insurance company (too many past claims) there was no need of telling other driver "no need for insurance". On Monday he will not remember who you are or not even answer your phone.

yes, report the loss and start the claim, it's perfectly legal to change your mind despite what you told the other person

Probably a small operation then that I wouldn’t trust to do the right thing. Best to report.

Still cheaper for them to expense $1000 for vehicle maintenance then see their insurance rate rise.

No matter what happens, I’d suggest you go to a Collision Reporting Centre to file a Report. Just to have it documented.
If they agree to pay for repairs, then the Report isn’t required and no need to contact your Insurance Co.

And cheaper still to deny, delay, delay, and delay until OP goes away.

Yes, but Bubba Gump’s Landscaping = 1 guy + 1 lawnmower + 1 rake and a 2003 F-150
