I was on their 75.00 plan and they adjusted to 50.00 when they lowered their prices. I guess I’ll try and get down to 39.99. Btw, Beanfield owns Fibrestream now

Had them when I was still downtown Ottawa condo. By far best deal in town! Miss it dearly. Never did understand why neighbours in the same condo went with Rogers or Bell when Fibrestream was available at a much better price.

Price drop because Roger offering 1.5 for $49.99 in my area. I'll take fibre stream over Rogers with this price (also because fibrestream price is likely permanent vs 12 months limited discount at Rogers)

+1 for competition for bringing prices down in general

Just sent them a message on their website. Within 5 minutes, they emailed me back and upgraded my speed to 750mbps. Have never seen better service in my life.

P.S. Thank you, OP for posting!

Man why all the other fiber ISPs in BC condos/apartments only? Would like someone other than Telus for residential/single house fiber :(

Why the heck do these third-party Internet provides only operate in limited markets when they just buy time on the Big Three telcos' infrastructure? I don't like that exclusivity. It'd cost them nothing extra to open up to all Canadians.

The ROI on running fiber to a condo is better than running it to an individual home due to density.

I love Fibrestream! Had them for 3-4 years now and it's pretty good $35! I also pay for my parent's internet - Teksavvy - and it pales in comparison while costing MORE! It's also super slow when I come visit them. I kinda feel bad but they tell me it's ok for their use

FibreStream isn't like Teksavvy where they wholesale Bell or Rogers services. FibreStream run fibre to condo buildings and provide services using their own infrastructure.

Just sent a message. Should knock $5 off my bill

Will see what happens. I've had them for years now I think. Very reliable internet service. Can't recall it ever going down.

Edit: Service upgraded already thx op

The last-mile wholesale agreements only apply to copper and coax. The gov't subsidized those so they made sure wholesalers had access. The same is not true of the (much more recent) fibre infrastructure.

They don't run anything to condos, though! They use existing telcos' networks and buy time on them!

If the wholesale Internet fees are still high, that's a problem and the government needs launch an all out assault on the Big Three telcos!

Okay, fair enough. Got a good list of Canada-wide copper and coax third-party ISPs? And why do so many only offer coaxial cable Internet services and not ADSL?

That's not true, Beanfield has their own backhaul independent of the big 3.

Beanfield is buying out all the fibre to high rise apartment providers. Is this a bad omen? Will they buy out Novus next? Do they dream of being a future Bell?
