I tried to port over 5 Freedom numbers. The 2 staff members at the store only managed to port 1 number correctly and didn't activate the 4 remaining. (They did say that it could take a few minutes to a couple of hours to process.)
We realised there was a problem hours later when the numbers hadn't switched and one phone showed 'No Service' and 'SIM not Activated' when the new SIM was installed.
I called in to see what was going on. I was on the phone till midnight (over 3 hours) trying to get this working right.
After hanging up, we found out that the phone rep had assigned 2 numbers to the wrong phones.

Since they were closed, I had to wait till this morning and spent over 1 1/2 hours on the phone fixing other issues and to be told that my only option to fix the cell number that were incorrectly assigned was to have new SIM's mailed ot me, pick them up from the store or swap them ourselves.
So, if all goes well, we should have this done with at the end of the day.

What a fxxxing pain.
If I had know that the Fido staff would cause me this much of a headache I would never have bothered switching to Fido.
It's not like I needed the 9GB-11GB per line as we already had 5GB for $35 at Freedom.

So, as others tend to say hear on RFD, YMMV but, when things go sideways expect to have a nightmare on your hands.
I give FIDO a complete failure on this.
it's not Fido's fault if Freedom delayed the release of your numbers to Fido. Fido salesperson can only submit a request in the Fido system to be sent to Freedom to release your number.

Freedom got so slammed by this promo that they were intentionally causing delays in releasing numbers to Fido, Koodo, Virgin.

On a side note, the promotion is STILL ONGOING. So if anyone still hasn't taken advantage of this, go get it before its gone!

Freedom to Fido, $39/9GB + $34/11GB 2nd line.

Freedom to Fido, $39/9GB + $34/11GB 2nd line.
Where are you still getting this promotion?
I called the mobile shop, all they can give is whatever plans Fido has on their website ($50/9GB was gone Sept 30) with the freedom discount of $11/month for 24 months and $5 discount + 2 GB for 2nd line.
However, they wouldn't waive the activation fee of $40.
Fido plans currently are :
2gb 45/mon > with both discount 4 gb 29/mon
4gb 50/mon > with both discount 6 gb 34/mon
6 gb 55/mon > with both discount 8 gb 39/mon
8 gb 60/mon > with both discount 10 gb 44/mon
10 gb 75/mon > with both discount 12 gb 59/mon

Fido just offered me the plan ($39/9gb first line and $34/11gb for each added line) and I can do BYOD or get phones. They had a promo for an iPhone 11 $0 down and $32/month (usually $42) for 24 months ($888 after tax over the 24 months). Asked for a discount on phone and was turned down.

Went to the source and guy offered me $150 off phone after negotiating, but they run on Virgin only for this port deal.

Wirelesswave had the best deal. Same plan and I can choose either Fido or Virgin and they gave me $300 off the down payment of an iPhone Pro Max. Paid $200 down (after tax) and will be paying $33/month for 24 months. Also, got 2 iPhone 11's for my parents at $0 down and $32/month for 24 months. Also waived activation by offering credit and got the1000 LD minutes and the 5 hours of unlimited data per month.

I had Freedom prepaid plans and was with them for a day.

Seems like a good deal.
Did Wirelesswave only offered the $300 bill credit if it is iPhone 11 Pro Max? Do you know if they would give $300 bill credit for iPhone XS or S10?
The iPhone 11 Pro Max is too expensive for me

Go to The Mobile Shop, they can walk you through it. Essentially you need to open account and lines with Freedom. Pick cheapest plan. Then either wait for winback call from FIDO, or port away Freedom back to FIDO.

Freedom to Fido, $39/9GB + $34/11GB 2nd line.
Actually, in this case, the store rep screwed up and never activated the SIM's.
Basically, 1 minutes worth of their time cost me 6 hours of mine.

Be careful and check your bills. Fido still has not applied my 1st months $11 credit, on my second bill, as per their emailed agreement.

Freedom is free as long as u r in freedom zone which is most of major city in Ontario. If Fido same case?
Is it free if u live in Toronto but visit Niagara or Hamilton or it would be considered long distance?

This plan is still on Fido's website. Are the $5/line additional line discounts confirmed? I'm cautious with all things Fido/Rogers related from past experience.

SWITCH FROM FREEDOM TODAY!

Get 9GB for $39 per month after bill credit for 24 months2. Only when switching from Freedom to Fido. Call or Visit us in store to take advantage of this offer. Available for a limited time.

I'm currently with Fido, would porting out be the only way to get these recent deals I am seeing? What's the best deal to port out from Fido to? Freedom? Koodo?
I am hoping that by porting out I get a Winback call or I am able to port back in under one of these deals.

Yes, unfortunately. They make you work for it, but it might be worth your time. Port to Shaw or Freedom as that seems to trigger the best offers.

Worst case scenario you can get the $39/month 9 GB offer to come back to Fido. Just call the number on Fido's website (‭+1 (866) 315-3436‬) before Oct 31. To be safe I'd want to have the port in/out win back all settled by the 28th so that you can call CS and finish the port before Oct 31.

If/when you talk to win back - tell them you are with Shaw if it is available in your area - even if you port to Freedom - because Winback can't tell the difference.

Say you have the 25 GB plan on Shaw, and they should match that or beat it. Seems people are getting that for $35 with a big $200-300 bill credit if you add a phone on Tab and 1000 free LD minutes per month. If you don't need a phone, it's better to pass on this to stay portable in case other great offers pop up. :)

Also, if you have any need for extra talk and text lines tell them you also have that number of $0/month Shaw text and talk plans.

And, if you think you will be staying with Fido, might as well get the $0 4GB tablet plan with free Samsung Tab A 8.4.

--------

Can anyone from this thread update us on TMS point bonus for getting hardware on these plans? Is the $300,000 pts with an S10 still on? TMS website is pretty bad.

Thanks for the help! I'll be heading to the Freedom store this afternoon.

By the way, I'm in Ontario, would quoting the 25GB Shaw plan still work?

Good point - corrected my answer. Safer to stick to Freedom as I don’t think Shaw cable and mobile is available in ON. You need to be a cable subscriber to get the $0 plan.

I know deal is dead now but in case a similar deal comes in, is the second line you port in eligible for $34 with 11gb or is it only for the primary line?
