I asked this in the wrong thread & didn't realize till the post had been posted! so i'm posting it here asking for people's experiences -

I have the LG tablet along with the 3GB for $15/mo. plan for 24 mos (since last December 23rd).

Can i add this to my account & increase my monthly data plan from 3 to 6 GB for $30?? ($15 x 2 SIM Cards)

I asked someone on Chat & they said you need a phone plan to get it.

'Bylo' suggested i let people know my location so if any Fido stores are allowing this i can take advantage - i live in North York, bordering Vaughan/Woodbridge/Concord.

TIA!
I got mine last March at a Fido kiosk in Yorkgate Mall Jane & Finch. I think they would be a good bet still. I have 3 data plans and no voice plan.

Getting this plan with no "voice" plan is pretty easy as it has been mentioned if you go to various wireless wave, best buy, mobile shop, etc. Most don't really have any problem waiving the SIM cost either.

Depending on your luck, you might even get the activation fee waived, and get the 50% discount before the 3 months if you don't get a tablet with contract.

Now, BIG QUESTION!

Does anyone know if you have the 50% discount, will the overages ALSO be 50% discounted? (so each 1GB overage would be 5$ instead of 10?) Anyone who has the discount actually tried it?

Aaaaanyone? There were several rfd'ers here who were lucky to get the 50% off. Any one of you happened to go over and use the 1gb overage? Was it charged at 10 or 5, meaning the overage is also 50% off? (basically the entire line vs just the monthly fee)

[MOD EDIT]. At $2.5 per GB, why risk it for $10 per GB overage? And then have to waste time to negotiate that down to $5 (this is after you signed the agreement that you agreed to $10 per GB overage). Illogical. Makes more sense to avoid going over the 3GB and avoid having to contact Fido's awful inconsistent CSRs in the first place. DOWNVOTE!

I would worry first about getting in on the discount, everyone experience is different, but there are those who reported that the 50% extended to overage as well.

You do realize that not everyone has the same needs (or lack of) for data like you do ?!
Some might be streaming video on the go, others might be using this a hot spot for as a family car .. etc, so the question is legit, if people for whatever reasons they have might have need to go over 3GB it's good to know if they can get overage discounted as well as the base tier.

T&C clearly says it's for new activations only, so everyone who asked to upgrade got turned down, except for that one guy who managed to get Fido to do it for him after escalation to CS manager. That said, the guy was eligible for the offer to start with (having an existing voice plan), so he had some leverage when negotiating.

Fido has a history of extending this offer for a month or two past its original expiry date. Moreover, with Christmas only a few weeks away I'd expect to see this extended to at least 01Jan18. I'd also expect to see some retailers to sweeten the deal as Best Buy did last year with $50 GCs on the "free" tablet deal.

That said, everyone should remember:

The middle line was a 1gb overage.
