I do this all the time in my iPad Pro. But I rarely reach 3 GB on any of my two plans. I simply change the SIM every 15 days. Not a big deal, really.

Does anyone have experience using two of these plans by swapping sims once you reach 3 gb? It seems like a pain that most people would only do for a limited time. Is this correct?

My understanding is you have to wait until your final 100% rebate offer is applied to the 12th month bill. So, the best is after you get the 12th month bill, where the final 100% discount is applied. Let's be patient guys! :)
My experience differs. I called 27 days before my 100% is set to expired. The agent I spoke with initially told me the same thing; wait for the current discount to expire then call back. But she tried to update my account right away to give me 50% for 2 years starting on 02Mar19. Lo and behold it worked. My current status on Fido's site says 100% off. But I also have an email from Fido to confirm 50% off starting 02Mar. (See my posts upthread.)

Rebate offer end date is different from expiry date. My account's 100% expiry date is 11Mar19, whereas 100% offer end date is 12Feb2019. Offer end date, I meant, should pass before you apply for 50% discount, so I can apply for 50% discount after 12Feb2019. In your case, I bet your offer end date just passed and your 100% discount is still in effect.

This is my understanding after talking with a Fido agent. I will probably try once it's close to my 100% expiry date, 11Mar19.

Expires next month, Went online and asked if there is any deal. offered 50% off. easy

They did say, the free tablet is only if you also have a phone number with them

Granted, I expect there will be a better deal within 2 years. at least more GB per $

This wasn't my experience. My current 100% discount expires on Mar 7th, so based on your information, the offer end date should be Feb 8th, and that could well be true.

However, I called in on Feb 1st, and successfully arranged to have the new 50% discount take effect after the 100% discount expires next month. I did have to talk to customer retention to make this happen, though. And I guess I will have to wait until next month to see if it all works out completely as agreed to.

I have now received my new $0 Huawei tablet, so that part is apparently working out. I just have the one 3GB/$15 data line, and have no voice line or other business with Fido.

Fido is, obviously, full of it...

...As for free tablets, she "thinks" newer models may turn up in a couple of months. I don't find the Huawei or Alcatels particularly appealing to replace my LG G Pad III so I'll wait to see what Fido offers to replace the G Pad IV.
I got the Samsung in December that they were offering. Has a larger capacity battery which is much appreciated, however only 16 GB of storage & 1.5 GB of RAM (instead of 2 in the LGs/32 GB storage in the LG PAD IV)

My last online chat with CS, I was able to secure a free tablet with just a data line but I turned it down as I wanted the LG tablet, which was no longer available. It is a miss and hit game as I have tried multiple times with no success to get a free tablet but just when I gave up, I was able to. So, keep trying and you may just get lucky.

A Fido agent told me a few days ago that there may be some stock at retail outlets/kiosks. There's no database she could search so you'd have to phone/visit outlets in your area. She also mentioned that new tablets usually get announced when new phones come out, e.g. Samsung in March. So your patience may get rewarded as Spring arrives.

Chatted with Fido yesterday and was told that I would have to sign up for a voice line in order to get the discount. I guess I'll be calling retentions, then.

Those that received the 50% discount through chat, did you use the fido site chat, or the fido messenger chat? Did the fido site chat, they said there is no such offer.

A number of people reported that Chat turned them down so I used old-fashioned telephone. My call got answered almost instantaneously, the agent immediately agreed to 50% off for 24 months and I was done in under 5 minutes.

What was the reason they wouldn't add the 3GB promo?

I am currently paying $7.50 a month for 2G data and I am interested in getting an additional sim for our son. Has anyone tried getting a second sim to match the discounted price?
