Signed up to this about two weeks ago. So far the service is great, just as reliable as the Rogers internet we were on. Of course, it's literally the same, although we downgraded in speed (1Gb down vs 150Mb). It's was pretty funny when I replaced the Hitron Modem with, well, the same Hitron Modem.

We got it with the $150 gift card promotion, but they said we need to be with the service for 6 weeks (I think) before you can ask for it.

In a years time when the promotion is up, I might end up switching with another provider unless Fido gives us a decent retention deal. I kind of wish Freedom Home Internet was available in Ontario, but that might be 5 years into the future.

@HeroesofNewerth It's unlikely that Freedom/Shaw will be providing home service internet service in your area anytime soon. Shaw and Rogers exchanged cable properties about 15 to 20 years ago.

For 37.50 even without gift cards its still a pretty good deal .
I am coming from bell .was paying 110 for 500u .
Cancel it and got this and now bell called today .gave me a offer of 55$ for 1gb .I still kept this as for a me I dont feel any difference is speed when using my computer or phones or iptv in this house

You don't need more speed than this under normal usage .thats what I think

Seems like a good short term internet provider vs the price/speed at Carrytel, but of course no gift card bonus.

It'll probably be what I will do since it's no contract, until Beanfield comes to my building

It's too bad really, even if they work out a deal with Bell or Rogers for Ontario, they'd be throttled.

In Ottawa, I got the black Hitron CGN3 upright modemn for 75mb service. You get the white modem with the 150mb service.

You just get a random modem 150 doesn’t ensure a white Coda modem. Either way getting your ouin router is the way to go. My $89 netgear router offers much better speed/coverage than the CODA.

Signed up when the GC deal was active, received a confirmation from Fido but the modem never arrived. Followed up with CS and after 10 days, they informed me that my order was cancelled the same day I placed it. Ridiculous. Got Fiber stream instead. 500 mbps for $50 and first month free.

No extra fees, according to terms "INCLUDES Modem rental"; however does say: "Prices may increase during subscription"
I read from another forum post that "installation" is free, if "self-install" option is selected. Meaning, plug in given modem to power and cable outlet in your home.

Yes, according to terms " in Ontario to new Fido Internet or existing Fido wireless customers."

No, you can get either modem. Just depends upon what they have in stock. Both modems can both do a lot more than 150Mbps.
If you use it as a wireless router, the white CODA has better wifi radios and antennae.
Had a white CODA for the last year (Fido 150U), got a black CGN3U. Black CGN3U is slightly better when using as a modem for me (connected both via a splitter and tested extensively), but this is very YMMV and can change over time.
