APN settings for tethering (may be required on some devices, xperia z3 compact tablet is one example):

For those who want to tether on this plan and have problems doing so, you may need to enter "dun" into the APN type field. Based on the Fido support site, the APN type field is to be left blank. That didn't work on my xperia z3 compact tablet. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out why because I had it working on other devices without issue, just not the xperia z3 compact tablet. I even asked live chat what was going on and whether there was something odd with how the plan was set up. I ended up getting the bottom of the barrel feedback, "This is a discount plan, so the plan does not support tethering. This is in line with the experience you are having." I lucked out and found the solution from some legacy post in a blog about tethering on Rogers network. Reading more into what dun does, it seems to be a relic setting of the past. The setting seems to be essential for some devices.

Process for referrals:

The process for referrals requires the person referring to login to their Fido account to enter the new customer's name and email address (or phone number) then the website generates a referral code. The new user then gives that code to fido when activating. Please only ask friends and family for referral codes only if you seriously plan to activate because a Fido member can only generate 5 codes a month whether they are used or not.

Proven Method for editing my phone number (MDN) field in SIM card:

It seems like Fido is shipping SIMs for these data plans without the phone number field populated. This field can be populated with phone number information by using a rooted android device with xposed framework installed and phone number fix module added. I want to be clear that this process merely populates the phone number field in the SIM card with display information for the benefit of the user. It is not hacking the SIM or messing with the Fido network. It does not alter the actual phone number assigned to your SIM by Fido, how your device will connect to the network or the functionality of the plan.

I have included the play store link for information. The module can also be downloaded and installed from within xposed, which is how I did the install. For those who don't run rooted devices, ask a geeky friend for help. Finally, please support the dev.
