[Fido] HOT! Fido Internet 50% Off 75u $32.50 / 150u $37.50 + $50BBGC + 6mo SportsnetNOW + Chromecast(YMMV)

Fido has a promo right now for 50% off their 75u and 150u internet services for the first 12 months. Typical timing for anyone interested. No activation fees. Now also includes a $50 BBGC and SportsnetNOW 6 month subscription.

75u unlimited - $32.50/mo
150u unlimited - $37.50/mo

deal link: https://www.fido.ca/consumer/promotions/

Looks like a pretty decent deal!

Update:
Multiple users who called in to Fido to order claims to have also received a bonus Chromecast making this HOT (YMMV).

Update 2:
I signed up instore and did a Live Chat with Fido CSR who also confirmed I am eligible for the Chromecast (if you did it instore might be worth doing a quick chat to confirm eligibility)
Chromecast offer ended on Monday - Sept 2nd unfortunately and is no longer offered.

Update 3:
Prices have gone up to $40 and $45 respectively.
Some users are still able to get the deal by Live Chat, Phone, and Instore (YMMV)

Update 4:
DEAL IS STILL ALIVE! - Confirmed users are still able to get the price through multiple channels (live chat, FIDO direct, and resellers) (YMMV - on extras)

Update 5: BLACKFRIDAY - Deal is back and alive

I would like to disagree with the previous post - also the 50% off might be a regular promo, $50 gift gives it a nice new look - at least for me and bring the price of 150 internet almost to the price of 75.
Thanks OP.

Looking to renew my current fido internet deal for the same 32.50 a month but the rep on phone said I had to wait until my current offer is finished (around November) to start a new promotion? Is that true or can they renew even while you are on a promo offer

They have renewed in the past. Tell them you could cancel service and sign up as a new customer to get that price.

Are they strict about this being only for students, or is it available to everybody?

I signed up instore was never asked for any id or if I was a student. I just asked to signup for the plan.

Worth noting that Snet NOW can be a deal changer for lots. I pay $14/month with telus just to watch canucks games, and this will get me till the end of february. that's a $84 value for me and could be more for someone else

Hows the speed, I have Rogers ignite gigabit UL and I face no lagging even surfing multiple devices (atleast 2 at a time). I know Rogers/Fido is the same but how bad ia 150mbps compared to 1Gbps. They have defined in website that DL will limit as per the plan but I dont think I ever see even 150mbps speed even in 1 Gbps plan so thats not true speed.

Thanks OP. I renewed my 50% from last Black Friday. I don't think I will get the BB GC or Sportsnet, but that's okay.

really depends on what you do. For my parents 150u is more than enough for their iptv and browsing without lag. They went from 500u to 150u. Did a speed test last night after setup on the 150u and hit 200, no lag issues or buffering. (we do have our own router and do not use the modem provided - fyi)

Literally just subscribed with them 4 days ago but went with the 50% off 75u plan for $32.50 with my parents account because the student offer was just the 150 plan at the time.

I would've just gotten the 50% off 75u under my own name had I known, missed out on the $50 BB Gift Card which would've been useful right now + Sportsnet is always nice. They already sent the modem, looks like the exact same black square rectangular modem as the modem I used to have with Rogers a couple years ago for internet.

I went from Rogers Ignite 500 to the Fido 75mbps 32.50 a few months ago and have had no issues. Pair it with a mesh network (I've got the TP Link Deco M5 3pack) and you'll have a strong/consistent WiFi connection no problem. I've streamed to two TVs and used the internet on laptops/iphone at the same time with absolutely no issues. When doing speedtests, I consistently get up to 125-150Mbps everywhere in the house.

Switch to the 150 service + buy a mesh network, and you'll have no issues at all Smiling Face With Open Mouth

I'm currently with Carrytel with 75/10 for $35/month... I'd like to sign up for this instead since it's a slightly better deal and also has the gc and SNNOW. Is it likely that after the 12 months are up, I won't be able to find a deal as good as my current Carrytel one? If so then it's probably not worth switching for me

Just called in to order the 150, they said billing date is when I receive the modem in 2-3 business days. Asked if the billing could start on the 5th, they said no. Doubt they'll be able to delay it for a month.

Also for anyone else when I signed up I was offered the 50 BBGC + 6 month sportsnet and a google chromecast.

I had the same thought as you before I switched to Rogers 75u ($25/month for 12 months). I figured I will save $120 + tax over 12 months so I jumped on it. I'm sure there will be other deals available when my 12-month promotion is up.

So since I'm a current subscriber to their 50% off plan from end of May $32.50/mo for 75Mbps the agent declined to apply the promo.
So I started to explain how frustrated I was, how bad my experience was in the last three months (I kept having issues). so she finally agreed.
Now when speedtesting I got 300Mbps ... so I went from 75 Mbs (speedtesting at 100Mbps) to 300 Mbps for 5 more dollars (couldn't get the 50$ Best buy gift card though)
Thanks OP
