Base plan and price maybe, and that might be a stretch. But almost certain not with the extra credit on top. High subsidy phone on a $60 5GB plan is unlikely enough, without retentions. I expect you’d be lucky to score that without the credit outside of a winback.
+1

I have been on RFD for a long time and I have never seen a deal this good, ever.

So my account bill shows a negative number which covers the upfront cost of the phone+SIM card+activation fee+hst. Not really sure how it works but I think It’s meant to cover all the fees I’m to incur once I reach the billing date.

Yes and your upfront cost drops to $99 once the credit is applied (well, not exactly I guess, since you paid taxes on the $599...but you clearly get the idea).

With the $500 credit, its still a good deal (not so much for those of us only offered $300). But it's a shame you missed out on the 64GB being $399. Would have ended up free and an extra $100 back in your pocket with the $500 credit.
Yeah, my mistake is I waited for the callback instead of proactively calling...

When did you port out from Fido? just curious how long between that and when you got the call...
Feb 2016

I called them and they returned my call.
Not sure with the price of current 599 iPhone X I would take the deal.
What do you guys think if I get Note 8 and sell it on Kijiji?
They would come unlocked I assume?

Where is this deal at currently? Do they still give a $300 bill credit? Is the Note 8 $300 versus $600 for the iPhone X? If that is the case I would pay the $300 extra for the iPhone X.

What kinds of phones can you get for $0 now via this deal? The best deal previously looked like the iPhone 8 but they raised the price.

Just my 2 cents;....If you plan to sell you’re better off getting an iPhone, either the iphoneX or 8+, they are more in demand, when it comes to high-end phones. I was able to sell my iPhone X 64GB within 2 days of getting it for $1200 on Facebook marketplace. Just saying

All their price is on their website for the phones.
Iphone X is 600
Note 8 is 200
LG G7 is 0
S9+ is 379

And yes they give 300 credit no matter what phone you choose.
As I want to sell the phone it really matters to which phone worth the most considering they raised the price of IPhone X.

Sell the iPhone X 256gb for ~1300 then buy a sealed one for ~950. Still a better deal than getting a iPhone X 64gb for 399 directly from Fido

(1300+500) - (599 + 950) = 251 profit

If you bought iPhone X 64gb directly from Fido - 500-399 = 101 profit

p.s. this is excluding taxes ofcourse (but since you won't pay tax on the selling/buying portion, it will end up an even better deal post-taxes)
Turns out the S9+ was a fake (ofcourse it was)

A great deal just became a nightmare

So basically I just paid (599+700) - 500 = $899 to get stuck in a 2 year contract with no (fake) phone in hand plus an extra 20/month on my old plan

Didn't think this kind of stuff happened here - obviously I was wrong

And since I bought on CL, I'm screwed - painful and very expensive lesson to learn

Wait! What exactly happened? How do you mean the S9+ was fake and why are you paying off so much?

I sold the iPhone X for 1300 and bought a S9+ for 700 on Craigslist. Apparently there are Chinese knockoffs of the S9+ (that look basically identical esp if sealed like mine was) and I got sold one of those for 700 (wasn't even a Chinese dude so no idea where he got one of these but anyways)

599 downpayment for iPhone X 256 gb + 700 for the fake S9plus - 500 credits = 899 for a fake phone + 60/month plan (which is 20 more than my old plan)

I guess if I count the sale price of iPhone X (1300) then I broke even (1300-700+599) and then the 500 credits will off-set my increase in monthly plan value

But it still sucks to be sold a knockoff...sigh

Oh noo :( .. that’s really sad!
It’s never a good idea to buy a high ticket item on Craigslist. it’s better to get an “open-box” phone at BestBuy or Facebook marketplace.

Yeah now I know. Sadly I've learned that lesson the hard way. Atleast I didn't any lose any money (overall). Still got stuck in a two year contract now though :(

I was in the exact same situation as you. They took away my tab Medium and increased my price without notifying me either. I was then referred to the Fido Office of the President (lame name for Retentions) and the CSR there finally gave me the coveted $40 5GB deal with a Small tab.

Just got my free LG Q6 and am happy with the deal, but Fido needs to treat their loyal customers better.
Wait!.... does fido sporadically increase people’s monthly bill? without informing them? Even though it’s a contract? .... dunno why, but, it sounds like excellent grounds to sue for contract violation.
