Worth noting that this is only $599 if you pay all 24 monthly installments ($24.99/mo) - the device balance of the phone is $1285, so if you cancel before the 24 mo is up you pay the appropriate portion of that. There's no way to cancel/port out and get this phone for $599.

It's still a good deal if you're happy spending 2 years with Fido's coverage (national Rogers network) and talk/data plans to accompany the $24.99/mo phone cost.

how the FIDO payment plan works?
Can I just buy and cancel the service and pay the rest of the balance, which means I get a xs for about 599?

Thanks

I dont want to downvote but the title is misleading OP.
Please add $599 With Tab
I am saying this because of the disappointment I got knowing the actual price.

Edit: Thank you OP for the title edit.

Precisely. Worth noting that it's a 2 year contract in the title, too.

That wording was added to the post title after my comment, but is a good addition.

Actually, for new activation customer, the plan is $55 6GB data.

So, ($55 + $25) X 24 = $1920 you get a free iPhone XS

For Zoomer 2 years plan, $40.5 6GB data.
I pay ($40.5 X 24) - $100 activation credit - $50 referral credit - $200 (free Huawei P30 lite, it is easy to sell it at $200+) + $889.99 (Costco is selling iPhone XS at $889.99) = $1512

Plus, we’re 2 months from new phones so this is essentially them trying to flush out old stock for regular prices

OP's math is also missing the tax. Note Fido charge tax for the whole phone balance before discount. the 24.99 is before tax value. 1285 X 0.12 = 154.2 bring the cost to be 754.2 after tax. source: i just signed up with fido 2 weeks ago.

Took the zoomer deal, i was able to sell the p30 for 350$. This make it better this way than getting the phone from fido.

Not sure about your tax question. But this is how it works, if you stick with the 24 month financing option, you should be charged taxes on $600 which is $25 x 24 months and your taxes should be = $72. So the total phone financing cost from fido is $672.00

That's not true. I just got a phone from Fido. They indeed charge tax on the full price of the phone. In this case $1285. Their website's number is meant to mislead you on the tax. when they are saying 50 discount to 25, they meant they will lower your monthly bill by 25 dollars but you still pay tax on the whole thing. so they will do is calculate the price as 1285 x 1.12 = 1439.2 / 24 = 59.97 - (53.54 - 24.99) = 31.42. you will end up paying 31.42 a month for the phone after tax.

Actual $52.76 discount applied $28.55 = $24.21 - So paying $24.21 x 12% = $27.16 every month for 24 months until your balance is cleared.

Did you actually signed up for the phone and get the bill?
I did on mine and I had a long talk with their agent to understand the charges. For mine experience anyone getting this deal will pay: 1285 x 1.12 = 1439.2 / 24 = 59.97 - (53.54 - 24.99) = 31.42 for the phone itself per month.
if you can get it for 27.16 after tax, awesome, but that's not my experience. so just everyone is aware of this.

That’s incorrect.

Fido Kinda tricks customers into thinking that’s $599 plus local tax with their misleading advertising.

In reality, for Ontario as an example, $1,285 + 13% tax / 24 months = $60.50 - $28.55 discount = $31.95 x 24 months = $766.80

$766.80 before tax is $678.58 not $599.99 as advertised. I fell for the same BS.

On a side note this deal was a bit sweeter a few days ago when they had the additional $100 off any device.
I ended up getting the refurbished XS for $19.99, they sent me a new one because refurbished unites got sold out, on a $30 month 4GB plan. Solid deal.
