[Fido] Samsung S10 Plus $260 YMMV (HUP requires 2 year contract but you can keep your existing plan)

I thought I'd share this in its own thread - if this could help someone looking to upgrade her/his Fido device.

I have been looking to do a device upgrade, with my current provider Fido.
A few days ago I noticed Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus listed as $12.93 per month with 0 down (all numbers are before taxes).
This price only showed up when I went to Fido My Account (logged in) and followed the steps to upgrade to a new device. This is a lower price than if I was not logged in My Account or if I were to add a second line and get a device for the 2nd line.
Samsung S10 was priced at $14.12/mo with $0 down.
On top of that, they offered $100 bill credit for both options.
It was tempting, but I decided to wait.

Today I decided to go ahead, but the price has gone up to $15/mo for S10 Plus (and $20/mo for S10), zero down. The $100 one time bill credit is still offered for both. Reason: I think it's a pretty good deal, and I don't know how much lower it would go during BF sale.
I took it anyway, and was able to get $50 extra one time credit from CS.
CS said the $100 credit will show up on 2nd or 3rd bill, but the $50 was already applied to my account.

S10+: $15 x 24 - $100 = $260 (before taxes, before the $50 credit).

Previous to upgrading my device, I had no contract with Fido (on winback plan).
On top of that I can keep my winback plan after upgrading.

love the S10 plus, one of the last good phones with :
headphone jack
wide-angle camera
microsd card expansion.
(those are the items i need in a phone when shopping for one)

also has onscreen fingerprint scanner, a plus.

I would agree with you, esp on the headphone jack feature being a must have i(f I can help it).
I was going to go with the S10 because it is smaller and likely easier for my SO to handle (even if I was going to pay more), but when Fido increased the S10 price to $20 per month, I decided to go with S10 plus for $15 per month. Lots of Youtube videos talk about the pros and cons of the 2 models.

Thanks for sharing, another poster here said he was able to see $20 / mo for S10 Plus.
Seems targeted. I have been with Fido since Dec 2019 (previously with them for a long time, but migrated to another provider only to be won back) - if this helps.

Aw man. I wish Rogers would offer this. I can't get any phone to keep my plan another 2 years.

I think it's worth contacting CS to inquire, and while at it, ask for an extra credit. I didn't see any of those extra offers you see.
If you do this and have the chance, please share with us what you found.

I had the offer @$20/month a few days ago and jumped on it. I also got a $10/month credit on my $45 plan. So paying $55 for S10+ and 6gb/month.

hmmm im also seeing $15/mo for s10 plus and $20/mo for s10($100 bill credit on both). In fact, I received a txt msg from fido this morning about s10 offer. It mentioned it was exclusive deal for my number only and mentioned waiving $45 activation fee when I do that online. No mention of $100 bill credit on txt msg though. This is quite tempting deal but my s7 is still alive and well

AFTER I upgraded to S10+ for $15/mo, Fido sent me a text that I could get a S10 for $20/mo. No mention of the bill credit, but it was showing when I chose to upgrade my device via My Account.
If you're S7 is still alive and well, I'd keep using it. A buddy of mine is still using his S3, yes "three".

I got the same text and talked to an online rep about it. The issue was I wanted to keep my $50 for 15GB plan and they said I had to upgrade to a new plan.

I decided to pass on it cause the plans they had weren't that great, and I figure they're trying to lock us into something before all the Black Friday deals are released.

If you were able to get this "targeted" device upgrade pricing by doing the upgrade online (My Account), you should be able to choose "Keep existing plan" during the check out process. That is what I did.

Unfortunately I don't see that option when I'm going through the process. It literally is forcing me to pick a new plan :/

Maybe I'll try calling the loyalty department and asking
