Fido vs virgin internet

Looking for thoughts on virgin internet 50/10 for 60 and fido 75\10 for 65

Will my true speed actually be faster with the fibe network as the cable connection is shared and can face network congestion

Im in Toronto
Curious to hear thoughts

Thanks

The slower fibe connection will be slower than the slightly faster cable connection...

Guess I deserved that for awkward wording. What I meant to say was is it true fibe speeds are consistently faster than the shared cable speeds

Someone's been watching too many Bell commercials.

Unless there are problems with the area you are in, with cable you will pretty much always get the rated speed.

Fido 75/10 customers mostly get 90-100mbps down. Essentially more than promised.

That "true fibe" runs on copper, don't be fooled by bell. Every internet is shared one way or another, you don't get a dedicated line for $50.

This!! I'm on Fido's internet on the older 60/10 plan and my download speeds are in the 75-80 range..

Uploads are maxed at 10

Fibe is typically Bell branding, I'm guessing that is still a DSL network. If you want bell service dsl, there are numerous resellers. Even for cable, check out teksavvy/start/carrytel/cik/ebox/vmedia.

Cable does have more congestion due to higher advertised speeds and it being a "shared" network

Best of luck. Even if you don't get a 50% discount, Fido has 3 months free promotion running for all new customers.
