[Fido] YMMV Fido 15gb Bonus

Major YMMV. I checked my fido account today and they offered me 15gb/month for free. There doesn’t seem to be an expiry date.

I got this as well on my two lines.

These lines were on 9GB for $50 until I was offered 10 GB for $50 last week, Now they both have 25 GB. Thanks!

When 5G becomes more commonplace and more people have 5G phones, 4G will seem "slow". Despite these current plans having large data buckets, eventually we are all going to move to new 5G plans at whatever rates/sizes are offered at that time.
There is no 5G with any Fido plans, and only on some Rogers plans.

It's also likely carriers have been expanding their network and backhaul to accommodate 5G, and thus have a lot of capacity. Combine that with less usage due to wfh/lockdowns, and this is unlikely to really cost them anything vs. potentially losing customers (churn). Subscriber growth rates have slowed down, so now more fighting for existing customers on your competitors while not trying to lose your subscribers.
Especially people paying higher rates and using very little data. There's likely an algorithm that looks at people's usage and bills, and only offers it to those who won't use it. Sometimes it will be wrong, but overall the carriers are not going to lose money.
e.g. I have 11GB, never exceeded 5GB ever. Now I have 16GB. So instead of 6GB extra I never use, I now have 11GB I'll never use. Face With Tears Of Joy

Yeah, agreed.
No way are they doing this out of goodness of their hearts...

If MVNOs are allowed, hopefully the floodgates are opened, and we see some real competition in wireless
I would love to see a race to the bottom for once (or Mint Mobile style companies in Canada)

thanks OP...the line I have is $50/6gb...got the extra free 5GB from another free offer sometime last year (there was a thread about it).

I logged in and see this free 15GB, added to this line as well. so $50 for 26GB now.

Just my thoughts ! Me and my brother we both have a 10Gb Fido plan. I use about 3-4-5 Gb / month. My brother is always at 9.80 Gb and he uses all his 5 FIDO free hours monthly as well.
He got the offer and I did not. I've been with Fido for 12 years and he has been for four.
So it could be targeted ,according to usage ?

Sweet jesus 15GB for free for no reason. I thought the Koodo 5GB offer was generous.

Honest to god I hope you’re right. I hope they’re all soiling their pants repeatedly in fright.

Wow unfortunate timing for me. I just signed up two new plans on Koodo $50/10 instead of the identical Fido offer.

Then Fido increased it to $50/12 and now this? Is anyone on Koodo having any luck matching these?

Do you think people with the current 4G plans will have to pay extra to get 5G?

I thought they would just upgrade and give it to everyone for free. Figured faster speeds means people will burn thru their data faster
