Fire strategy

How dangerous it is when you just started working and save 80% of your income investing in growth only to tumble 60%+ and now have less down payment

Ie. Some Chinese young pros only investing in Chinese tech stocks

Ie. Some Sustainable believers investing in clean tech and doing poorly

Ie. Fintech, etc etc…

These are the themes ive noticing based on real stories

You would to be very unlucky to buy into the tops in every single of your positions.

Long term wouldn't matter anyways, you'd be dollar cost averaging into a falling knife unless you really bought very questionable stocks.

The long term has been working well since the gold standard was abolished and fed continously print money inflating asset prices and everything.

Just hope it wont turn to stagflation for the next 50 years as the data suggests, and DCA will become Declining cumulative assets…

The only thing thats keeping the market up is the fed until it isnt

What data suggests stagflation for 50 years? Source?

The money taps are still on (low rates, and will take months for it to reach 2%) and we are hoping for a soft landing. The way I see it, feds have ultimate control navigating the gravy train so if history serves us right, we will overshoot the soft landing and still be okay in stocks or RE.

There was an article/study on a similar question of what happens when an investor starts investing at the top of the market. I don't have a link to the study but the conclusions were basically this:

1. Yes, it hurts but for most early investors, the sums are absolutely small compared to the amounts we are looking at 20 years down the road.
2. Time in the market will generally rescue early issues.
3. Crashes at the end of the investment lifeline will generally hurt more in an absolute number as the amounts being talked about are much larger - ie $2 million in assets vs $20 thousand.

Having said the above, of course, there are some cautions such as constantly looking for that lottery ticket win will generally cause a lot of pain. You may hit one but will it make up for the big losses?
