[Amazon.ca] Fire TV Stick 4K Max - $59.99

Amazon just put the Fire TV Stick 4K Max on sale for $59.99. This is the standard sale price, and comes along every ~2 months, so if you were waiting, now's the time.

Was waiting for a deal on this one since it has more RAM and can do 1GB Ethernet.

Some info from the site:

compatible router (like the eero 6), but Fire TV Stick 4K Max is also compatible with earlier wifi routers. For Alexa Home Theater audio, you'll need to pair the Fire TV Stick 4K Max with compatible Echo speakers.

1GB ethernet capabilities: https://troypoint.com/firestick-ethernet-adapter/

Using an adapter can allow it to have 1000mbps download speed?

Is this is USB C for power or still micro like the 4K? Might upgrade if I can carry over my Ethernet adapter from the 4K I have now.

Warning if you're trying to use this with say a Logitech remote, for whatever reason the Max can only be turned on by the provided remote once it goes into sleep/off.

Also even using the provided remote, it doesn't necessarily turn on right away.

Not a bad price for a great stick. If you can wait until BD you can get it for below $50 like last year when I got mine.

I use home automation, that's how I am controlling my Fire TV stick (not max). I also had the Nvidia Shield Stick (ended up selling it) which was horrible for high res streaming (glitches and sometimes full crash) and it was connected via 1GB ethernet so wonder how this Max will do.

Same price at The Source. I always prefer them in an instance like this as they are within walking distance of my home vs Amazon which is a minimum 3 day wait...

Are any major players doing 8K boxes? Outside of niche makers.

It seems like most players in 2022 have decided 4K is good enough, and they're optimizing for PQ at that res.

The truth is that 8K is desirable at 75" or larger for TV use.

8K is also desirable for oversized monitor use above 55".

We seem to be at a steady state in resolution for now.

God bless.

Is there a native media player app on this like Roku? Because most android media players don't handle HDR or Dolby Vision well

Can you even buy 8k content? I'm not happy with the 4k content, let alone worrying about 8k.

Man I'd be happy if I could get sports in proper 1080p at this point.

Content providers are way behind, because they know most consumers don't care.

I really would like to see 1080p120 or 4K120 for sports broadcasts.
