Fitbit Ionic - Voluntary Recall - $300 refund no questions asked.

Hey all, not a traditional Hot Deal, so please move if it doesn't fit!

A friendly FYI that there is a voluntary recall for the fitbit ionic that came out today.

They are offering a $300 refund, no questions asked.

Just make sure the Fitbit Ionic is added to your fitbit account as they will need to see it there and disable it to give you the refund!

If you have one laying around or maybe one that you are using, might be a good time to upgrade it!

I completed the process myself.

Took about 20 minutes (most of which was waiting for their systems to sync up halfway through the process).

Refund options are Amazon/Walmart/PayPal.

Refund will be sent in 3-6 weeks.

Once complete you will also get an email with a link to get a unique discount link.

Discount is good for:
- 40% off up to 5 Fitbit devices–that’s 1 for you and 1 for up to 4 friends! Check the store to see which devices are available for purchase.
- Up to 5 free accessory bands–1 for each device you order
- 1 Fitbit Premium subscription for a full year (new members only)
- Free expedited shipping (where available)

Edit: added Refund Types, Discount details and more pics.

Thanks, beat me to the post! Just did the same myself - it's really too bad because I actually love the Ionic and does everything I need it to do with an amazing battery life. I guess I'll be moving on to the Sense from here when they send the refund.

Is the refund in terms of etransfer or interact... Or just store credit? Might be worth picking up a couple of used ones if it's the former...

For anyone wondering, there were 78 burn reports of uses wearing the device.

They are recalling over 1 million devices, which means they estimate the lawsuit at over $300 million if they didn’t recall.

You have a choice of Amazon Gift Card, Walmart Gift Card or a 3rd option that I forgot...

You also get a link to access a discount on some new Fitbit products.

I'd laugh if someone got burned buying a used one that was claimed already.

Would it be possible to buy a used one and still get the refund?

Was tempted to trade one in last year... glad I didn't.
Even more money now.

hahaha yes of course, as long as that fitbit has not already been recalled. I am not sure of any way to check to see if it has been or not so it is risky.

Lol, but the notice was just posted today... So I doubt most folks have already claimed the refund =]

When I choose Canada the cogs just keep spinning. Hopefully they fix it soon.

I had an ionic for 2-3 years, it was great while I had it. I've moved on from fitbit and kept my watch incase of a smart watch upgrade. Glad I didn't send it in yet!
Do you need to send the physical watch in or will they deactivate on their end?
