Flying Ottawa to ST. Johns NFLD

I noticed that regardless of the dates I put in the return flight is much cheaper than the outgoing flight using Westjet. Is this normal, the return ticket is $150 approx less than the outbound, is this just normal airline pricing?

Ottawa
More people trying to get on the Island than off?
Have you tried Air Canada or Porter to see if this is a WestJet phenomenon or is the same for all airlines servicing Newfoundland?

I live in NL, and am going to Florida next month also with Westjet, but it's the opposite. The return flight is $200 cheaper than the outgoing one. I don't think there's any special reason for what you're seeing except supply and demand.
