Flashfood is a thing but seems to be only a Loblaws thing.
Do you not have anything else to do rather than argue with strangers on the internet
Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

Lots of food get wasted and thrown out
Stores sell their left over products to the customers for a discounted price .

Information about food waste : https://www.lovefoodhatewaste.com/why-save-food

I’m not sure which location honour this I just know vancouver . I tried looking at their website to see but it does not mention it
It’s a B Corp business

You get a surprise bag filled with food there is a lot of bakery on the app
I added picture of what the app looks like
It’s almost like Flashfood but Flashfood does only groceries

Please comment below if your city works

Thanks OP. Cleaner than dumpster diving. Any sellers in Ottawa?

Great concept. Too much food gets wasted, which definitely is a shame. Hopefully they can develop a sustainable business out of this.

Thank goodness T&T doesn't participate in this... They don't discount until like the next day expired and even then the discounts stink

Ya doesn’t seem like something t&t will take part in
They have bakery bread at night for like $7 I think
They do have broken fruits or veggies for $2 a bag or clearance items sometimes you can get a good deal

this app is also around in toronto, i've been buying random stuff from across downtown this past month
some stores seem to be generally mediocre though, i tend to stay away from anything that's 'xx% of people rated this 3 stars and up' now

Thanks OP (came here from the merged thread, so thanks to that OP too.) Tried the app and found some restaurants and bakeries near me that I'll be trying over the next couple days. Excited to see how it goes.

For my fellow québécois: I have used FoodHero once. You get a $5 signup bonus. If you want an additional $5 you can PM me and I'll give you a code.

I used mine at IGA and got 3 large marrow bones for $3.26 and 2 top sirloin medallions (like ribeye-sized) for $5.67. Both were frozen. I made Hunan cumin beef with the steaks and pho broth with the bones, and both were super easy recipes but tasted amazing. In addition to meat, they also have dairy, bakery, and fish items.

Surprisingly good store participation, too... every Metro, IGA, and Rachelle-Bery on or around the island appears to participate. If you go to their site, https://foodhero.com/, and scroll down a bit you'll see that they appear to serve the whole province, including the Ottawa metro area (Hull).

If you're in Vancouver and like almonds, their store brand is on clearance for $8 for 800 or 900g.

BB is like a week away. Kingsway Vancouver location. Thumbs Up Sign

Galleria Korean supermarket sells off their prepared foods in the evenings...it used to be 8pm but I think that may have changed to 6pm. I loved buying the deep fried squid and the Hotteok or Hodduk [different spellings possible] when it's discounted.

T&T and other asian groceries will sell off baked goods but quite often they bag around 6 buns together and you can't pick and choose what buns you want.
We're all bozos on the bus until we find a way to express ourselves...

Failure is always an option...just not the preferred one!

Bump. How's has your reception of Too Good To Go been so far? I just got the app and will be trying out some stores nearby. Any tips/tricks?

Maybe it's worth letting some local businesses know in your area to join. Perhaps they're simply not aware.
