Foodbasics Heron Rd now open- Ottawa people

Hi,
there used to be an AP grocery store in the Herongate mall.
A few months ago they closed and are reopening as a Foodbasics store.

I called the other AP location to find out info on this store and was told they were reopening in the end of Feb.

But today a cashier at pharmapluss in the mall said she heard it might be next week.
They already have food in the store and look to be done the renovations.

But I haven't seen an opening date sign or anything like that yet and nothing on the foodbasics website also.

I am sure they will have good opening day specials, well hopefully anyways.

Hi,
here is my update on foodbasics!
They are oficially open now! The store hours are 8am-10pm!

They have their flyer onlilne at www.foodbasics.com

They store was not too busy. Was hoping there would be some "opening specials" of some sort...but didn't really see any.

But they are very very cheap tho!

24 of Nestle water was only 3.50
Renees salad dressing in the glass bottles was 2.50!
Also alot of cheap fruits and dried fruits.
Saw frozen samosas for 3.50 for abig package in the halal frozen section.

Great deals on "ethnic" foods as if u live around there u will see it is a very very ethnic part of town....alot of Arabic, somali and muslim people. (it is the only grocery store int he city I have seen that has a halal section...for a major chain.

I also saw a little kid buying a 2L of "champagne cola"...no idea they had such big sizes there! :!: :D

Went there on Saturday. The line up was unreal. So we didn't buy anything and just left. And like you said, was kind of disappointed that there were no opening special.

Their reg prices are pretty good tho.

I was there 2 times yesterday and the lineups can be deceiving.

I went in a really long line and waited less that 5 min.

Also, if you go very early or late evening it's not too bad.

The reg grocery prices are great tough!
so, even if it is super busy, still really worth it.

I took the time to walk around the store and chek the prices on stuff I buy and was shocked.

The italian cookies I was buying for 2.50 downtown are 1 buck!
Also finger cookies reg price 50 cents, when at loblows they are 2!

Also cheap seafood.
fresh mini scallops for 4 for 250 grams ot so.
saw some smoked salmon for 4 when i am paying about 8 at another store!

purex detergent was only 5 for the 3? liter big bottles, reg price too.

seven up and pepsi are under 1 dollar this week!
crispy minis and tortillas and soy chips 1 dollar all week for all flavours!

Just to add: FB is building a new store soon in the Merivale/Baseline area, across from Loblaws

Midland
Food Basics is a really good grocery store. Great prices and great sales.
We have one in Midland.
