My local No Frills would laugh me out the door if I asked to price match a different house brand for their own...

I have no problems at my NF.

Show them the policy. See lines 3,7 & 8

They won't price match different Private Label brands. Good luck with that.

Wow learned something new. But I would still have a hard time, If it isn't 1 to 1 to brand and weight they will refuse everytime (sometimes you may get away with pkg weight if they don't pay attention)

Produce and fresh meat is ok even if brand is different, but most times they can try to get you on the country of origin for the produce.

"Selection" is a Metro/Food Basics private label.

I price match their cheese bars for PC at NF frequently

But note that this is explicitly NOT the case at RCSS: Ad Match
3. We will not match competitor’s private label offers on non-identical brands

Why the downvotes?! You can price match these at NF. Thanks OP.

This has literally been the regular price at food basics for years, not a sale price. Just because it's in the flyer doesn't mean it's on sale...

Also my personal opinion is that the selection brand dark chocolate is far superior than the pc brand dark chocolate. You are better off avoiding the hassle and buy from food basics 365 days a year. It's product of Switzerland for anyone interested.

Price match at No Frills for PC brand
I'm not going to knock the way you think (I'll even up vote it)

but I know the NF in my area definitely won't match PC brand for Selection. Pretty sure they are going to price match the no frills house brand (which is no name) and I think these bars are either 1.00 or maybe 1.25 now.

or at least thats what I WOULD DO if I owned a NF location.

for the OP or anyone who is reading this : can you post the specific store location where you had this work as a NF. I'm just curious.

As others said, OP is tripping if he thinks this flies sans problems.

He has a clueless employee at *his* NF location if he ever successfully and regularly PMs other brands of packaged non-perishable goods that are NOT sold at this location.
It *may* fly for produce bags and even that is hit or miss.

You would have better luck price match at RCSS (corporate store) over No Frills (franchised store).

Nope. See the more restrictive PM terms at RCSS I quoted upthread. Of course one's experience may vary from specific store to specific store within a chain, from cashier to cashier, etc.

these are regularly buy 2 or more pay 1.50 each at metro. or pay $2.59 for a single bar

https://www.metro.ca/en/online-grocery/ ... 9749971171

I'm pretty sure they have been $1.25 at food basics for about a year before that they were a dollar. Most stores i've been in have more then just milk and 85% dark. like ones with almonds, one with raisins and almonds, a brownie one. Some have white chocolate as well.

I'm sure people invoke this policy and sometimes have no issues. However when I have tried stuff similar to this, I usually get a blank stare, so I ask for the Manager and then they won't do it, so I leave upset or disappointed. I'm not the ultimate RFDer.

Speaking of hilarious...

Just because you were successful in getting one PM at a particular NF that contradicts the chain's stated policy doesn't set a precedent that's applicable under all circumstances chainwide.
