This Toronto brand seems like a RC equivalent quality brand and is 50% off sitewide for sweats, sweaters, shirts and long sleeves. Found it on Reddit and seems like no one has posted this deal yet?

After promo, before tax:
Sweaters = ~$77
Shirts = ~$24

Promo: builttolast50

No indication of expiry date.

Edit - March 15 - found this journal/blog from the owner, pretty neat:
You will see a lot of companies now online saying they make the best - the best hoody, the best t-shirt, the best shorts, the best tech pant, the best underwear, the best of the best - blahblahblah. That has always made me laugh because who really has the arrogance to say they are the best. The consumer makes that call and that has to be consistent over years.

When I started working on FR. over 10 years ago - my goal was simple. Build quality products the right way while doing the right thing. That means a lot and it covers a lot of ground…but it is really quite simple.

Engineer quality fabrics.

Understand how fit is dictated by the fabric.

Use quality construction methods that have been proven over decades.

Treat your supply chain with the utmost of respect. That took me time over my career to understand what that actually meant. Nobody wants to make mistakes. They just sometimes happen because there are so many people involved who touch a single piece of clothing like a hoody or a t-shirt. The key is for everyone involved to work together to make everyone happy…something a lot of brands need to learn.

In my work life today, I pretty much live in a t-shirt and when it's cooler, I put on a hoody because of the sheer feeling of comfort that goes with it.

Times have changed significantly since my music days in the 80s. I am almost 60 now, so I am basically an old man. I am an old man.

I dress the way I want and haven’t wore a suit since January of 2019 when I stood at the PGA Show selling shiny shirts and pants.

A hoody seems like its pretty easy to design and make as there are a million out there ranging from 20 bucks to 1500 depending on the brands justification for charging that.

It took me years to get the FR. hooded jacket right because it's complicated to get it right.

I wanted to use organic cotton that draped perfectly and held its shape. The fit had to work for the build of an athlete. It had to get better with every wear and wash. The zippers had to be hardwearing but minimal.

The hood had to have some body to it when you pulled it up.

We spent months and months developing this fabric and fit to make sure we can have consistency with our sizing.

We launched this hoody last month and put it in the fr. shop when it was 30 degrees Celsius outside. But people always seemed to stop and feel the fabric and wanted to learn more about it. Some people bought them right away and some wanted to wait until the weather was going to change, which is now.

I live in this hooded jacket - I only have a black one because I am trying too keep my wardrobe as simple as possible. It goes perfectly with my 3 year old RGT jeans and an FR. T-shirt. It's great for hanging out on the couch watching Youtube videos on Japanese camping or motorcycle videos so I don’t crap my pants in a tight corner.

I wear before my rides and after.

When I get on a plane again - it will be the only piece I will travel with.

I will never say we make the best of anything, but I can assure you that we put years into creating this hoody because I want it to be in someone's life for years.

Making locally means - Knit here. Dyed here. Sewn here. - Not the bullshit of made in Canada, but oh yeah our fabric is from China like a lot of brands are doing. I don’t like that. We make everything here.

If you are considering adding a new hoody to your rotation, I hope you will take some time to research why ours is built the way it's built. Because I just want to build good product the right way that lasts…

Thanks for reading

- Ralph

I wish I could encourage Canadian made but it's always outrageously priced: sweat pants @$135!!!

Even at 50% off... Confused Face $67.50 for sweat pants... Pass!

Welcome to RFD "PennyPinchGrinch" if you are NOT affiliated with that company and shilling for your first thread/post. :)

I’m not, I had a conversation with the mods already. I’m just a huge apparel guy that never really engaged on RFD until now since I purchased a bunch of Reigning Champ stuff from the last thread and then found this brand.

So far, this forum seems hostile as hell lol. I keep seeing the same brands being posted and thought it would be good for some variety but seems like it’s an echo chamber here.

Ps/edit: Kind of regret not posting a McDonald’s promo post as my first one.

I just lurk mostly but as a male into apparel I appreciate posts like this. I don't find many deals of interest on this forum from a clothing perspective outside of notifications of big sales from more common retailers.

I've had to buy an entire new wardrobe after the past 2 years and try to find higher quality and made in Canada items where I can. I still don't know a lot of brands but have added this one to my list to check out eventually! I don't really need this type of clothing as I recently got a few reigning champ items, but thanks for flagging!

@25 dollars a shirt, it is reasonable, same with the sweats. Its funny how people complain about buying items made in China yet also complain regarding items made in Canada.
Anyone know how they fit?
Someone on reddit said, " I believe the current stock in the store is using Roopa (which is a mill in Mississauga) which IMO is one of the best made in canada factories for sweats."

Is the quality on these massively better due to it being Made in Canada? Never heard of this brand so would love some feedback before purchasing.

Thank you for the vibe check!!

I should preface that I have no idea about the quality of this brand, I was trying to read up based on reddit and the product descriptions/photos–it seems good quality but we’ll see once I receive my packages Grinning Cat Face With Smiling Eyes love my canadian-made stuff.

I also tried to sign up for the newsletter hoping for a promo stack but there was none, oh well.

I’ll repost here once I get my items. I have some RC stuff so I can do a side by side if that helps. I’m telling myself it may come close in terms of quality but am not expecting a “OMG wow” factor since it seems super niche/small.

Cat Face With Tears Of JoyCat Face With Tears Of JoyCat Face With Tears Of Joy @ meme

Wings+horns is done though, they’re over and no longer making stuff Weary Face.

RC has to be salvaged from Altitude Sports or Solestop (those are the only two vendors I’ve noticed who slash the % aggressively).

I'm going to try a black hoodie.

But the sizes are stupid, 1,2,3,4,5. Lol.

How do people come up with these ideas?

On the lighter weight side of things at 350 gsm or 10.3 oz. Roopa's mainline is 400, which could be considered midweight.

I don't think the best deal, but not the worst, either.

I think the hostility could come from a difference of things that go into a purchase. Some people prefer garment assembly and or fabric in a particular country or set of countries.

I kind of look at premium clothing like premium coffee. If you think of clothing as fulfilling legal and normative obligations in public, warmth, price and comfort, premium clothing and its prices are not for you. Same with premium coffee and the elevated prices that some people (unnecessary qualifier) such as myself pay. When I buy bourgeoise coffee do I rationalize to myself how it is a good value? No, it is not a good value and while there is more expensive coffee, that doesn't mean what I buy is financially prudent when much cheaper options exist. If you like the caffeine, particular taste, and routine that coffee/coffee breaks offer, a cup of Joe would satisfy your need.

I buy premium coffee because I like the taste. I sometimes buy premium clothing because I like the product. I also do not burden myself, nor deny that cheaper options exist.

Got a few items. The sweat shorts and shirt are nice quality. A bit lighter weight compared to RC. The tshirts are a bit boxy on me so I'm going to return them. Otherwise they feel nice.

It's a meme similar to Christmas Timberland boots. People like to be in on the same joke/movement/etc.

Don't worry about others. If you like something, what other people like is irrelevant.

Though if I am playing devil's advocate, Costco clothing is backed by a great warranty, even if it is not trendy/passed down to your great grandchildren.

People think that far ahead in terms of passing down clothing to grandchildren??! Here I am thinking they’ll have to work for it and I’m just hoping I survive through a nuke war myself. Sheeeesh.

Pretty common for surf/beach hoodies , I didn’t buy it though Smiling Face With Open Mouth And Cold Sweat I bought the ones with the drawstring. Tho I see the appeal of the non-drawstring one too.

$67.50 doesn't even cover the wage of the worker who sewed the garment. You can't claim to support Canadian made, and then be outraged at having to pay a Canadian wage for product.

Also, this appears to not be disposable fast fashion. If you find a style you like, a $70 shirt that lasts many times longer than a $35 shirt is a good deal.

That's a ridiculous comment.
Those sweats are not hand made.
Have you ever seen how lightning fast those garments are sewn?
Don't go into business if you plan to pay more than $67.50 for a worker to sew for an hour.
