FYI - for people in Toronto, drop-in swimming is now free at the beautiful new Regent Park Aquatic Centre. If you haven't been, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

rockthecasbah - I know the public swimming is free forever, it has been designated a 'priority' neighbourhood pool hence no charge for public use. For other programs it is best to call and ask.

I would not go near Reagent Park unless you want to get shanked

I hope you're not serious. If so, you need to get out more. This neighbourhood is changing so fast it'll make your head spin. New developments everywhere.

Looks nice on the outside, mostly government subsidized housing so the people living there are the same.
you just get shanked while having a better view.

Is it free forever, for all drop in swimming programs or just particular ones (like lane swim, therapeutic pool, etc) or times?

Thanks for the tip, may check it out this summer!

In addition, in Toronto, ALL outdoor pools and wading pools are FREE. You only need to pay at indoor pools (with the exception of those in priority centres, I guess).

Listing of Toronto outdoor pools:

Listing of leisure swim times (for both indoor and outdoor pools, but generally, if an outdoor pool is open, it's free):
