[Freedom Mobile] $19 for talk, text, and 1.5 GB of LTE data (no contract)

$19 per month for the first year, then it becomes $24 per month.

Seems like a good deal compared to Lucky Mobile's $25 per month for 1 GB.
Thread Summary
Nationwide unlimited talk and global SMS & MMS, 1.5GB data.
Prepaid Nationwide data stops at quota, additional available @$15/GB.
You'll be on a Big 3 network when outside Freedom network coverage (n/c).

Request a free prepaid SIM.
Other Prepaid Nationwide options.

All Freedom plans support VoLTE, WiFi Calling, eSIM, RCS messaging.
Voicemail allows 50 3min messages, retained 30 days, 90 more if saved.
Call features include call forwarding, caller name (inbound), missed call alerts.

--
3G voice calls require UMTS Band 4 (AWS 1700/2100).
Freedom LTE bands: B66, B4, B7, B13 (B71 to come).

Access to LTE B13 (Extended Range LTE) requires a VoLTE-enabled phone.
You need both for an optimal Freedom network experience.
Use the Device Compatibility Matrix as your BYOD guide (not the IMEI checker).

Freedom's Fair Usage Policy requires that the majority of usage over consecutive billing cycles be within the Freedom service area.

Lucky is unlimited after though, PM is 23 after auto pay and goes down $1 a year. It really depends if you value 1.5 of FM LTE data or 1 GB of slower Telus/Bell Data.

How is Freedom's network coverage and quality now?

Would rather pay a few bucks more for Lucky/Public if the network reliability is better.

I haven't gone over but it looks like it will be limited down to 256Kbps so that is around 32KBytes/s

I'm in Edmonton and at the edge of the city and I get around 2 of 4 bars for LTE on iPhone X. I think it also helps if your phone also supports Band 13 for extended range LTE.

Freedom has Wifi calling and voice over LTE which lucky and PM do not have and I found they are quite useful. The call is very clear and I haven't really missed a call so far.

I'll stick to my BELL $5 1GB tablet plan along with free VOIP/text apps because I never talk to people... but if I did use voice, I would sign up for this. This is a cheap monthly plan for voice and data.

I believe you can also access to Shaw/Freedom WiFi at most public places in BC and AB.

Does that mean during COVID when we are spending time at home, all calls are routed over wifi at home?

I just went into the store and got this plan. I was charged $38 for the first month, the rep said he can't give me the sim for free ($10). He said the original plan price is for 29$ + tax. You get two 5$ discounts to pay 19$ + tax instead. The 1st 5$ discount is applied automatically starting from the 2nd billing cycle which is a limited time offer discount. The 2nd discount can be effective immediately whenever autopay is setup. So, if you are going to setup auto pay, you'll be paying 24$ + tax for the first month only, then it'll become 19$ + tax.
