So the 5GB per year and 1.5gb per month plans both offer unlimited data, but it'll just be throttled once it gets past that limit?

And for this $19 a month plan, I'm guessing by next year once those 12 months are up, there won't be any opportunity to keep a similar plan for that price? Could you just switch to a diff prepaid plan?

Not sure if I can match this with Fido.
If not, I hope FM can weave my SIM card fee.

In post #94 of this thread, support was quite clear that the prepaid data on the monthly plan will be cut off. No unlimited with throttling. freedom-mobile-19-talk-text-1-5-gb-lte- ... #p33476051

If someone is already with FM better deal is to add a 2nd line:
Add an extra line to an account with 1GB of data, 1,000 minutes of talk, and unlimited text for $15 per month (after digital discount).
I believe it's 1GB LTE+unlimited throttled.

Switched from fido to freedom and the service in Vancouver was terrible. I had dropped call, slow data and text messages not going through and using a S20 Ultra.

What part of town? I’m in False Creek and spend most of my time within 3km of home. Freedom works great for me. It even works in Costco where Rogers/Fido couldn’t reach.

I got the exact plan last year for my mom, it is now approaching the 1 year mark and the price will go up from $19 to $25. How do I avoid that? The last option is to get another line and port over the number, I would like to know if anyone get an extension on the $19/month without having to deal with another line, porting, etc.

Only thing I can think of is there's something up with your phone. Perhaps you have to reset it (I forgot the term Samsung uses, CDC or something like that) to Freedom Mobile's carrier settings? I'm guessing for some reason you aren't seeing the whole network.

Consider switching your mom to a annual prepaid plan. There are two plans worth considering; $99/year with no data, or $179 with 5GB to use over 365 days with throttled data if the allotment is consumed prior to renewal. The $99 plan works out to $104.41 all in, or $8.70/month. Alternatively if your mom doesn't use much data, the 179 plan works out to $188.41 all in, or $15.70/month. I based the taxes and fees based on a Calgary account.

I'm in Vancouver too, and Freedom has been very good for me. Mind you, it is not my primary line, so it's not like I use it daily all over town.

How do you do that? I don't see the ability to add a line, online

Edit, you have to visit a store

Thanks. The $179/5GB year looks good. Is there an option to buy more data if the 5GB is consumed and if yes what are the rates?

Yes, if you consume the 5GB and would prefer to have, or require high-speed data, then you can purchase 1GB for $15 that lasts 30 days. It might be helpful to log into your mom's account and check her usage stats and discuss what data requirements she typically requires so that you can make a good decision. It may be that throttled data could be sufficient in the event the 5GB is consumed prior to having to do the annual top-up again, worst case scenario, the $15/GB for that 30 days could be considered optional.

$179/yr plan would be perfect for a Blackberry OS10 device, where you would have to try really hard to use up 5GB of data a year.

Would that also have 500mb bonus or not?
