[Freedom Mobile] Freedom Mobile - YMMV $30 For 15GB Unlimited ($50 - $20 off)

Long story short I have a line I pay for a family member. The kid always goes over so Freedom Mobile is preferred since teenagers have no self control. Was previously on $50 6GB Unlimited + $10 tab for IPhone XR which finished last week. This new Boxing Werk plan is good but Freedom wouldn’t offer $5 BOYP discount to make it $45/month on this because BYOP is only on new lines, which is BS if you ask me.

While I could have settled for $50 Unlimited 20GB offer, I wouldn’t be RFD’er if I didn’t try to push things. Note that I also have a Fido line and current Fido offers are even more competitive (minus unlimited data, cause teen). Fido is even offering $50/20GB in most apps.

Spoke to CSR on Freedom Mobile text chat service (via text message portal). I explained the position below and pointed to Fido offers in play. They offered 3 months $5 discount. I Pushed again and said I would likely be porting over, I got sent to a new chat with a retentions CSR.

She offered me the following
$30 for 15GB Unlimited Gig plan (regular $50).
No service fees for changing plans
Not sure if the $20 discount is Temporary or Permanent (sorry) but changes seem legit.

5GB at regular speed means nothing for me especially at a $20 discount.

Overall worth a shot which makes Freedom worth consideration from porting out.

Freedom has the best deals for data. Because their plans are technically unlimited, unlike the other carriers. The only crappy part about freedom is spotty reception.

Where do you experience spotty reception? AFAIK they have their own network in the more populated areas which for me never had any issues in many areas, and outside of those areas it uses other networks so it would be spotty regardless of what you'd have.

The $20 off is permanent.. I asked them to keep it on hold until I see BOXING day offer and they agreed.

Is your plan eligible to digital discount?

If I buy something that is not in deep discounted, my father will punish me; everyone will laugh at me. I will be the strange kid who doesn't fit in.

Freedom doesn't work fina in multiple regions in GTA (Whitby north, areas of Oshawa, ...) Inside Costco in Oshawa I can never make/receive calls, same in HD North Whitby.

Thanks OP! I got the exact same deal after chatting with Loyalty.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I had negotiated the 15 GB plan for $35 for 6 months and $40 for the next 18 months. So I wasn’t sure if they’d do anything but to my surprise they did. Their initial offer was 20 GB for $35 forever. I told them I didn’t need the extra 5 GB as I’m working from home and so they offered the 15 GB plan for $30 forever.

I thought it was on their Boxing day sales for new customers/users, but it is not obviously! Seems pandemic hits hard these providers!

Are any of you on Tab getting these or are these strictly just for BYOP?

Will freedom mobile have an actual Boxing Day deal coming or the boxing week deal on their website is all we got?

To confirm is this for new customers, or winback, or existing?

Also can anyone comment on reception issues in Markham and Scarborough?

Hey so I am also in a similar situation as you. Could you walk me through how were you able to do it because some agents can be a hit or miss with giving you offers. Also does this plan come with Nationwide data?

Yep, poor signal due to the nature of poor penetration capability with Freedom's AWS radio band.

So when Bell/Virgin, Telus/Koodo and Fido/Rogers come up with $35 unlimited + 12G data plans nowadays, Freedom will be in serious trouble if they do not cut down their prices.
