That was something that I didn't consider when I trying to go into the paid "route". Another option for me is this: buy a new state of the art ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) off Amazon (like the Grandstream devices that Fongo uses) and then reconfigure the VOIP settings for the FPL service.Dahlya wrote: ↑ If you port out from Freephoneline, after porting is completed, your Freephoneline account will be closed, and you will lose your VoIP unlock key if you have one.
Now you have no control over your ATA or configuration, and since you don’t, you can’t use your ATA to block calls like you can with some ATAs and Freephoneline.

Even with that "alternate route" (pun intended), Fongo will definitely upsell me to switch to their paid service. What I like about the FPL service however - is that I can control how many rings the phone will ring until the call goes into voice mail (If my memory served me right, I believe it was up to 12 rings). Only problem is - while it may "slow down" the scammers from ringing my phone line, it'll generate a lot "speed bumps" from some legit callers that I deal with (friends, family, businesses).
Aside from that, I also send some "low-volume" faxes each month (about once or twice per month).
