Freephoneline does not support SMS. To use Freephoneline with an ATA or IP Phone, a VoIP unlock key needs to be purchased for a one-time fee of $119.95+tax (at the moment). There is no technical support offered by Fongo staff for Freephoneline. Problems on your end will not be addressed. For those that require technical support or frequent help, Freephoneline is not a good idea.

Fongo offers Fongo Mobile, Fongo Home Phone, Fongo Wireless, Fongo Works, and Fongo Internet. I have no idea what Fongo service you're asking about.

All of Fongo's VoIP services use Fibernetics' network and Fibernetics numbers.
Awesome! Thanks!

Is there some type of adapter that I can hook up to my PC so that I can connect a home phone to it? I'm very interested in the free service.

Not that I'm aware of for the Freephoneline desktop application

I edited my previous post with links that you should take a look at.

If you purchase the VOIP credentials you can buy an ATA (Analog Terminal Adapter) which you plug into your router and from there an analog phone into that. If your PC has a spare Ethernet connection you can plug an ATA into that, but you'd need to leave your computer on for the system to work.

Alternatively you can purchase a VOIP telephone (they even sell WiFi VOIP phones) and put your credentials into that and simply connect via WiFi.

Hi Everyone.

FPL suddenly doesn't ring but goes straight to voicemail on the first half-of-a ring.
Like if I call my fpl number, it starts the ring sound in the speaker of the phone I'm calling on, barely rings the first ring, then goes straight to FPL voicemail.
My FPL phone on the receiving end doesn't ring at all.

Anybody else experience something similar and know what that's about?

I'm using an obi200 and mine doesn't even ring because it goes straight to voicemail.

Rebooted the ATA and no change.

^^ Exactly this, since about 8 EDT this morning. Re-booted, checked port forwarding, etc.
Can call out.
The desktop program can call out, can't receive.

I've activated a FollowMe number, and that is working.

The problem affects voip.freephoneline.ca only for the affected lines.

Switch to voip2.freephoneline.ca or voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060

Fongo has been notified.

Thank you so much. I will make the changes. Cheers!

Edit: just tested my existing configuration and everything is back to normal. 4 rings on my handset and it flips to voicemail.

voip.freephoneline.ca is the server the exhibits the most issues over the past 3 years. I always have it set to the last server to use in my server failover setups for friends and family members.

voip.freephoneline.ca is working again. I suspect they reset/restarted the server after they were contacted moments ago.

voip2.freephoneline.ca and voip4.freephoneline.ca:6060 have been working fine all day.

Hi everyone, I was just charged for the VOIP unlock key even though I already bought it years ago for my home phone setup and want to dispute the charge with them. What is the best way to contact them? On the Freephoneline website, there is a JustAnswer help link but is that really Freephoneline’s help desk?

Contact Us says to try https://forum.fongo.com/ however a CC billing issue doesn't seem appropriate for that.

Fongo's Contact Us says "To open a support ticket, fill out the Support Request Form. We do not have a support telephone line. Please open a support request and one of our support representatives will contact you."

Fongo owns them so they should be able to help.

If for some reason that doesn't get the charge reversed then there's always the option of CC chargeback.

Given that FPL is a prepaid service with no method in place to bill fees retroactively, I'm curious how that's even possible.

Moreover, after you buy a VoIP unlock key on an existing Freephoneline account, it's impossible to buy another VoIP unlock key on the same account. The option doesn't exist.

"Visit https://status.fongo.com/.
If "Support System" indicates "Degraded Performance", ticket response time can take up to a week (or longer).

The sales team can be reached at 855-553-6646, apparently, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on weekdays.

Freephoneline billing inquiries can be submitted at
https://support.fongo.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

You can check your ticket status by logging in at
https://support.fongo.com/hc/requests. That's an account for tickets
(zendesk) only and is completely separate from your Freephoneline account or
any other Fongo account you may have. Use the same email address that you
use to submit tickets. Do not use the same password as your Freephoneline
account. Again, these two accounts are unrelated.

Support staff does not respond to tickets on weekends or Canadian holidays.
Support hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. EST. They are not obliged to respond
on their user-to-user forums.

Fongo does have https://twitter.com/Fongo_Support. Possibly someone may respond to direct messages there.
Similarly, they appear to be on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/FongoMobile. I don't know whether they'll respond to you there.

Visit https://support.fongo.com/hc/en-us/arti ... -Complaint for information on ticket escalation.
CCTS complaints can be submitted at https://www.ccts-cprst.ca/for-consumers ... aint-form/."

Visit https://forums.redflagdeals.com/newegg- ... #p28405633.

The $35 fee is a threat to deter people from testing 911. No one has ever been charged.
However, people have had their accounts blocked for calling 911 frequently within a short period (five 911 calls within a single day, for example, or multiple days in a row with multiple 911 calls): https://forum.fongo.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20529.

https://www.freephoneline.ca/911

"911 Emergency calling service is unavailable for use with FreePhoneLine services in the provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island."
