Salespeople who responded soon started low bidding to get my business (remember the old game show Name That Tune) and soon the "I'll sell it for $100 above cost" was the lowest I could get it to.
Am I under any illusion that the dealership did not make any money? Absolutely not. I know there are sales volume based incentives and hold backs from Head Office.
All I was concerned about was getting the best deal I could for my money.
So you paid $100 over invoice plus freight and delivery, right?
Cards:HSBC WE MC 1.5%/3% travel 0 FX MC acceptance 31 day med AF $49
CTC WE MC 3% grocery, 3.54% CTC, RA, billpay, AF $0
MBNA RWE 5.4% grocery/resto
Bank: EQ (1.5%)

2017 Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid - I paid:
Base Hybrid $32,028
XLE+ Pkg $1267
Freight $1,760
Air tax + OMVIC $141
Dealer $100 (this is the $100 above invoice)

Price before tax $35,206
ECP Platinum 84/120 $2,309
Total before tax $37,605

Price at MSRP for above vehicle $40, 675

AFAIK without buying a demo there's no way to avoid freight charges. In my case the RAV4 Hybrid is made in Japan so it's not like I can pick it up at the factory gate.
