[Newegg] G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin SODIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop RAM $58.29 Shipped

From MemoryC: http://www.memoryc.com/computermemory/d ... annel.html

I was looking to upgrade the RAM on my laptop today and came across this deal which is roughly the same price as NewEgg pre-tax.

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6820231295

Ships from the UK/Ireland so Canadian customers are tax exempt and PayPal is accepted and delivery is quoted in 3-8 working days.

This RAM seems to have really good reviews as well judging by NewEgg.

Why do you say that?

Because the only tax they charge is VAT and VAT only applies to residents of the EU. If you ordered from Europe then it would add 20% on at the checkout.

used to be $17.99 each last week though but I was too late to order... I PMed with memory express instead for $18.74 each + tax local pickup... if newegg only has free shipping I would've bought it from them since they only charge GST... buying it from ME costs me $20.98 each after tax compared to $19.95 (if free shipping) from Newegg...

I believe the CS are slightly different modules to the CD, all the benchmarks I read online referred to the CD models specifically, plus the CD modules are guaranteed to be compatible with Macbooks.

Buying 2 of the CS modules from Newegg separately would be $54.45 for ON residents though, so like you said, a little bit cheaper. I would have liked to have bought the CD 8GB kit from Newegg myself though ideally but I refuse to pay for the delivery.

I see, I thought you meant taxes upon import to Canada. You're right, you don't have to pay VAT, buy you do have to pay GST and PST, or HST when you import it.

That's only if customs apply those charges at the border which they probably (hopefully) won't. I've so far only seen customs fees applied to packages shipped by DHL/UPS and this would arrive through Canada Post.

Khulit, how have you found the performance so far by the way?

The 4GB module (F3-10666CL9S-4GBSQ) is still on sale @$20 at ME. I PMed two from NCIX for pickup.

Link

For the reference, they are working flawlessly in dual channel mod for my Acer 5820T. I run Memtest 86 on them and they are all good.

You should've PM Newegg's price for $1 less instead... If I only had a free shipping points with NCIX, I would've bought it from them since NCIX also charges just the GST for MB... it would've been $2 cheaper for me... I was planning on putting them on my iMac 2009, and haven't opened them yet...

Buy it from ME and PM with Newegg for $18.75 x 2 + $5.99 shipping = $43.50 + tax... (13% tax = $49.15)

Those are different modules though unfortunately I think and I've been specifically looking for the CD version since checking out the benchmark results.

Not according to this:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1636760

The S just denotes Single packaging, while D is for Dual Packaging... but basically they're one the same... the performance for the D is probably due to dual channel speeds...
