I love these promos. I have quite a few of these games and I've played them to the point I won't miss them. The only game I'm hesitant to get rid of is Breath of the Wild. It was such a great game and I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it.

Do they sell Steam gift cards? I wanted to use this towards Resident Evil 4 but they aren't selling a PC copy at Gamestop.

Hi... I'm new to trading in games. I have a switch with about 8 games, but i recently learned how to hack my switch and now I have all those same games for free! Anyway, i know it says that you can only use the trade in value towards other games... But is there a possibility of using it towards another switch console??

They always time this with the switch sale

So basically you can buy a new game for 54.99 + tx, finish it, then get back $50

Yes I've done that before. They have a big stand thing with all sorts of gift cards - you can even get vanilla Visa/MasterCard cards but they have a 5-6$ activation fee.

In fact I'm wondering if I'm not gonna do that and use the money to get gift cards and grab a Steam Deck, introduce them to PC gaming that way?

Probably not because you're either stuck with Stesm games only, or a lot of tinkering.

Yes, it can be used for everything in store. You can also get the money on a gift card for later use, but if you buy on the spot I think you also end up saving on taxes.

Indeed they do. I traded in a PS4 over a year back and used up the credit on Steam Wallet gift cards.

The gift cards will just add money directly to your steam wallet, so you can use it to purchase the Steam Deck off of the store.

Anyone know if there's a way to print out the sleeve artwork for a game? I have a couple of games on this list, but both 'conveniently' came from Gamestop in a blank case with no artwork

do you still have the gamestop sticker on them?

if so you might be able to trade it in as it came that way used.

Thanks. Why do you end up saving on taxes exactly?

So it's possible that I trade in 8 games for $400, and use that to buy another switch?

1. I THINK they reduce your trade in from the price of the new game/system, so it costs less, so less taxes. Not 100% sure, but almost.

2. Yes

Yes I know that. I mean you can't EASILY play Epic Game Store games, or Gamepass PC games. As far as I know.

I know you can install windows and change a bunch of things but that's not a nice introduction for kids.

No need to install windows. Just installing the epic and gog launchers as non-steam games and doing one time setup will allow a user to play their non steam library.

And then there is the immense world of emulators that makes the deck just so great.

Trade in value cancel out the purchase amount, so you pay tax on the remaining portion. If you get a giftcard then you lose the saving on tax, if you put the credit to a preorder, it's still considered as "credit"

If you have 8 diff games then you get $400 credit that can be used on anything on the store

Trade-in is worth $50 as a future credit applied like cash (after tax) or it can be applied instantly as a credit towards whatever you're buying pre-tax.

If you trade in a game today for a $70 game, the game will be $70 - 50 = $20 + tax = ~$22. If you use the stored credit later, it will be $70 + tax = $78 or whatever it is - $50 = ~28.

It's like trading in a car where you the trade-in value acts as a discount on the new car versus selling privately on Facebook Marketplace where there is no tax benefit to you so you need to sell it for more than the dealer's trade-in price for it to be equal.

I've got 3-4 of these that I got with switches I've bought in the past, listed for sale that no one's wanted. So I should be able to get $140 which isn't bad. Will do this this week and put towards whatever I guess.
