If you like the Battlefield zerg go and buy it, it's fun. All the whiners have prob played less than two hours. It takes a while to get used to the enormous 128 player maps and new character system. A few balancing changes have been already made and login is also more stable now.

Sure, if you wait one or two years you can probably grab this as F2P, but it's a reasonable price for shortly after launch IMHO (probably due to all the hate ;)).

This game isn't fixable like BF4 was when it launched. It feels like it was designed by people that don't know how to make a battlefield game. Even if they somehow manage to fix everything else (balance, vehicles, bugs, ui etc) core design aspects like map design or specialists are not "fixable" even if they ever came around to admitting they were problems.

This is a testament to AAA studios getting away with releasing garbage because consumers will apparently buy anything. Most of the games they have launched in the past decade have had terrible launches, and their most recent ones, Battlefront 2 and BFV were especially bad and they openly demonstrated their contempt for the fans of their franchises, but people just keep preordering and buying their games so here we are.

This game is great fun, gets a lot of hate from people. If you like BF, you'll like this title.

Everyone loves to complain these days.

Reviews will be bad for all games at start at this level of game, for example - Forza horizon 4, 5, motorsport, BF4, BF BV as well.

Few stages different people follow. Every stage is okay the way it is.

1 - eagerly wait for the game, buy in advance, play in advance, Kind of early adopter, don't care about the price tag, they will like it even with bugs, and they will say game is good looking at positive points.
2 - Like the game, but not willing to pay in advance, but eventually pay full price as their friends are doing so. they will put some serious angry review for not getting their money worth & higher expectations.
3 - Love the game, but wait for the deals, within 6-12 months bugs becomes less & enjoy the game.
4- Get on dirt cheap, mostly no bugs but lots of hacker as game has been so long out and people knows what to do.
5 - Get it free, don't care about review.

I play BF4 & BFV. This leans more towards 4 but fails to achieve the expectation on people from level-2. after 1 year we will revisit.

It is up to us to decide which stage we have to enter.
FYI - I mostly stay after level 3. Highest price paid was for Forza motorsport 7 & BF V. Worth every penny.

I'm already at 70 hours played in this bloody mess of a game, and I love it. But it definitely could be better, and needs a bit more variety with weapons and maps (need some infantry focused maps), but they plan to add a handful of maps during the 1st season so maybe it'll get better (can't get any worse).

Why spend this when you can get it on EA access in a few weeks .... Just buy it from BB and return it as deflective and then return the sealed version as they give you a new receipt :) That is how all the employees did but they gave their real telephone number of course.

They are at least a year out from fixing all the issues, if they do at all.

BUYER BEWARE.

I'm going to predict two things:

1) this game will get way cheaper

2) they will pull support of this game early and it will always be an incomplete buggy mess.
I am a huge fan of the BF franchise and I paid $130 for EA premium on PC for one year to play this game. That said, I 100% agree with this comment. I predict they will take option 2 as they did with BF V. However BF V was in much better state than BF 2042.

LMFTFY

Save your money and keep playing BF4. If you don't own BF4, you can pick it up for cheap. Just wait for a sale. There's still lots of people playing. I started playing on PC back in August, and I'm up to level 120 (capped at 140).

Watch this review if you're considering BF2042.

Key takeaways:
- The BF4 was a mess at launch, but got better through updates because it had good bones. BF2042 doesn't have good bones, so updates won't even help
- Stop supporting Dice/EA
- BF was the worst FPS game that was recently released (Halo > COD: Dogturd > BF2042)
- If you're going to play BF2042, Portal mode is the best mode to play
- Lots of bugs. Expect crashes, getting kicked from servers, squad play is broken, etc.

Well I hope they go back and make Battlefield Bad Company 3, take a breather. Those had great campaigns and the multiplayer in 2 was great. They are very old games now lol; I tried getting into Battlefield 1 but the old guns are just not great. 2042 looked so damn good in the trailers too!

Haha, you beat me to it. I was about to post Angry Joe's review.

My friends who bought it said that the game runs like dog's breakfast.

It should be renamed BF2042: Warzone since they tried to copy CoD.

The only redeeming part is the portal where you get to play the better older games like BF2 and Bad Company 2.

Gamestop changed the price, Flip has it showing for $59.99 for the current gen versions and only dead gen are $49.99.

That's some stupid typo on Gamestop's part.

I discovered the franchise last year and played a lot of Battlefield V, than I. Really enjoyed both of them (the japanese war DLC was my favorite). I am a casual player and definitely not one of those toxic gamers that whine whenever a big title is released.

Battlefield 2042 felt way different and I just didn't enjoy it. Maps are too big, team play is absent and the bugs are too frequent. Wouldn't buy it at this price.

Halo on the other hand is loads of fun. The gameplay feels like Halo of old.

game director phoned it in, it's got all kinds of features stripped out and riddled with problems.

There are bugs but isn't as bad as many are saying. Actually, I'm enjoying it. More maps would be appreciated.

I'm still playing bf4 on ps3. Lol. Ps4 with too many players in the map isn't as fun. And I don't have to pay for subscription too..
I can see EA turned off battlelog and leaderboard on bf4 to try and kill the game. I've owned every bf but on the fence on this one.

BTW. Is the story play on this game any good? I assume there is an offline play.

If you like the concept of 2042, wait for the inevitable bug and gameplay fixes.

Give it 6 to 12 months.
