Since the games are on sale from March 6 to March 13th, I figured that anyone who has purchased the physical copy of these games, and wanted digital, this is your best opporunity. March 10th you can get $55 in trade in for most of these games. You can swap physical to digital at no extra cost. In fact you will have a little gamestop credit left over(Except Luigi and Yoshi).

Nintendo Games + Digital = bad deal unless discount is gigantic.

The good thing about Nintendo games is that they hold value for a long time. Buying digital completely removes that.

I bought a handful of digital games up to 2019. I'd sell more than half of them today if I could. Either finished or lost interest.

Games I'd sell but I can't:
Luigi's Mansion (finished and don't see a point in holding onto it)
Pokémon Sword & Shield (lost interest as soon as it corrupted my SD card)
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze (Lost interest over time)
Super Mario Odyssey (Finished twice. Could put the money to better use.)
Super Mario Party (I'd rather trade it in for the new one)

Every single thread this comes as clockwork. We get it. Digital bad.

I don’t care about saving $150 a year on games (I only buy stuff on sale / with promo codes / gift cards etc) through reselling, if it allows me the convenience of not dealing with cartridges.

Same concept with PS5 digital. It’s a free country after all, I don’t feel like my gaming choices need to follow a paradigm.

I would say the real stupidity is Nintendo games still commanding a premium, so thanks OP for the deal.

Nintendo fans are a cult, willing to pay high prices. These “sales” are not even sales. Bring back Nintendo Classics $29.99. They could AT LEAST do it for their ported wii u games (Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Zelda BOTW, Splatoon, Pikmin 3, Mario 3D, Super Mario Bros, Captain Toad Treasue Tracker, Hyrule Warriors, etc). I can understand games made brand new such as Mario Odyssey reamining at these sale prices ($54), but Nintendo is so lazy with their ports and they know they have a cult following that will pay a premium. That is why i always play Nintendo a console generation behind when you can scoop these up for cheap once a new console arrives. Nintendo is never about graphics either so you dont need to play current gen as their games age well. Until then, I use sony and xbox for current gen

It's been a very long while (years), if ever. Best bet is to buy at Shoppers during a 20x the time points promo (they happen weekly) where you're effectively paying $65 for it brand new after tax.

I'd rather buy the games on sale now instead of waiting 15 years to save another $10.

Yes its a free country, so you are free to make that decision. Just like the poster is free to point out the terrible value, and trend for games in general. Keep up your digital game purchasing pal no ones stopping you lol, just don't be surprised by the chirps, its a free country after all!

Clearly Nintendo's business model works for them. The Switch is 5 years old at this point and still selling very well, and their first party games are synonymous with every console sale and enjoy an incredible attach rate. Yes their games are expensive, but they also enjoy a high resale value that doesn't force you to beat it quickly before it depreciates, and they don't oversaturate the market with sequels and annualized titles. Maybe with the Wii and Wii U they needed the Classics line to prop up lagging sales and a lack of third-party support, but with the success of third parties on the Switch they must feel it's not required.

You can not like it and vote with your wallet, but there's no need to call it a cult. If Nintendo is a cult, then so is Apple.

It seems to be tax free online too? I'm in the checkout and I don't see any taxes? Are they going to charge me tax when I enter my payment info? 🧐

Sure, but it goes both ways, so enjoy the counter argument Winking Face

More power to you if you like dealing with physical stuff, I don't.

Buying more than half the stuff posted in this forum is terrible value too, if we start judging everything with the penny pinching attitude.

I say make everything digital and they create a platform for you to safely sell your digital copies to others through their marketplace and they can make a commission.

My order for mariokart 8 got cancelled. Anyone else? Did they oversell? Or did they caught on with not charging tax?
