calculations are slightly off it's not 80% off, it's like 58.8% off
price less 50% off before tax, less 8% cashback before tax, less 20% off total after tax
so if it was $100 before tax, it would be (100 x 0.5 x 1.13 x 0.8) - (100 x 0.5 x 0.08)
hope this makes sense lol
still a really deal. thanked!

Combine with cdn tire selling gap gift cards at :20 % off
Combine with ebates now at : 8 % percent at gap
Combine with free shipping over $50
Combine with a cashback c.c you're looking at about 80% off total

It does not work like that. Say you bought a $100 jacketmrfrugal83 wrote: ↑ 50 % off code already gapfriday

50% off makes it $50
10% additional discount makes it $45
You pay $45 using a gift card. The cash you paid for that $45 gift card is 20% off so $36
And you get $3.6 cash as 8% off sales price of $45
So Net amount for you is $36 - $3.6 = $32.4 so the actual discount is around 67% and not 90%
[Tax is not included to keep it simple and Thanks to frugette for explaining it before].

No I believe that can not be done, in fact I have experienced that once you complete your purchase online, Customer Rep. can not modify your order anyway and will ask you to return the product for refund.jeeva86 wrote: ↑ Can we buy now via CC online, then change payment method to gift card after BF?
Anyone know how good their winter jackets are?
- http://www.gapcanada.ca/browse/product. ... id=1091901
- http://www.gapcanada.ca/browse/product. ... =870790063
How comparable are they to TNFG3? I just want a coat with a hood.
My current coat is http://www.gapcanada.ca/browse/product. ... =910166013. I can't tell whether the two above are warmer than this?

Ok using your example $100 purchase, you paid $80 for the gift card that's already 20% off... stack 50% off code you're already at 70% ... Stack with 10% more the other code you're at 80% and tack on ebates... discount is before taxes which is actually better for you as you'd be paying more taxes on the principle amountsouvik126 wrote: ↑ It does not work like that. that makes it 67.19% off total after tax
50% off code
10% off code
you get 20% off after total including tax
8% ebates cashback subtotal
you can't just add them all together, BEDMAS - order of operations
like i said, still a good deal, but saying 90% off is misleading

Discounts are multiplicative not additive.mrfrugal83 wrote: ↑ Ok using your example $100 purchase, you paid $80 for the gift card that's already 20% off... stack 50% off code you're already at 70% ... $100 * 0.8 = $80. Then you pay 50% of that = $40. Then you have another 10% code = $36. Then you get eBates at 8% of that, which is what you *paid* to the Gap = $36 - $2.88 = $33.12.
100-33.12 = $66.88 is what you saved. (Not quite the same number as frugette, I'm doing this in my head so who knows).

The 10% code(GAP4YOU) expires at midnight today, so unless you had a stash of 20% GCs from before, you're gonna miss out on that.

close, but you have to consider tax here. because the 20% off gift card, you get 20% off after tax too.daverobev wrote: ↑ Discounts are multiplicative not additive.

so if you buy something for $100
50% off (100 x 0.5) would make it $50
10% off (50 x 0.8) would make it $45 (subtotal)
add tax 13% (45 x 1.13) = $50.85
now you pay with your gift card at 20% ($50.85 x 0.8) = $40.68
and now you get cashback off subtotal (45 x 0.08) = $3.60
subtract the two values $40.68 - $3.60 = $37.07 is what you pay after discount and taxes
you would have paid $113 after tax, but now you're only paying $37.07 which is 32.08% of the original price after tax, making it 67.19% off

Tax won't affect the percentages. 32.08+67.19 doesn't make 100, either!frugette wrote: ↑ close, but you have to consider tax here. because the 20% off gift card, you get 20% off after tax too.

Ah, but the *gift card* and *cashback* discounts are additive not multiplicative.
Oh well, close enough either way. I was only going to pick up $50 of cards, I think I'll get $100 now :P
