Garage door

Hi There,

My garage door is working fine. Its traditional raised-panel style. However, the bottom panel where it touch is the ground starting to rust also the rubber seal is coming apart.

Is this something that can be easily fixed or would you recommend changing the bottom panel.

What would the cost of replacing panel that is 10feet by 21inch.

Thank you very much.

Best to call some garage door companies and provide pictures. Not even sure if you can get a replacement panel if your door is old, and even if you and find a replacement, the color will look different.

Clean off rust and repaint. Rubber seal is easily replaced. Hard to imagine a garage guy only replacing one panel for less than $500. They'll just try to sell you a whole new door.

I agree with this. Thanks for the reminder...

In fact OPs post just "gave me ideas" to check and at the very least, repaint my garage "siding" (eg the wood that outlines the opening of the garage).

I know that the place where the rollers of the garage door "roll" is also starting to show rust at the base where it meets the floor so I might as well sand and paint that area (Eg not the door itself but where the door travels with the roller - i presume it's "starting to rust" at the bottom due to salt/water over 10 yrs from cars, shovels etc)
