This is the cheapest price I have seen. Last time I bought it for $23.98 but now its only $21.99. Best android box for the price.

Been using it for a few weeks now and it works great. With free shipping, this is a no brainer

These should be cheap (they were released at $30 IIRC), not much going for the RK3229 (when it comes to community development), pay few extra dollars and get an s905 instead.

This a good alternative? http://www.********.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_354314.html

How can it not be, with features such as " Infrared remote control let you enjoy your wonderful life which the wireless brings to you."

This is more like what I meant by paying few extra dollars: http://www.********.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_354508.html
but if you would rather get 2GB: http://www.********.com/tv-box-mini-pc/pp_334006.html

Cheap and covers the basic functions adequately, but not really recommended.

Three reasons:
- Shipping from China by slow boat. Expect to wait several weeks, and you could be charged extra tax and customs fees in Canada. Little recourse if the box has problems. Better to spend just a little more to buy from Amazon.ca with no tax, a few days shipping, and easy returns.
- These RK3229-based boxes are still having some problems with heat (see http://www.cnx-software.com/2016/03/09/ ... 29-tv-box/)
- Only Android 4.4 available for the RK3229, and Kodi already plans to drop support for Android 4.4 in the next release.

Question for the pros, how important is 1GB vs. 2GB for RAM. I mostly download SD TV shows but the some in HD. I'll have this hard wired to my router with a PC acting as my "server" hardwired as well.

Like aasoror's suggested models but just wonder if the $11 CAD is needed. also would be using KODI and streaming with Shomi.

Thanks.

Personally I wouldn't go 2GB on s905 (given your usage scenario or if you intend to move to a pure linux build).
But I would certainly pay $3 more and get the 1GB/s905, as JamesA1 noted the RK3229 has its own issues but most importantly its not endorsed by the dev community, so chances are you are stuck with stock firmware (or some simple derivatives) for good.

Thanks for the tips.

Found this one on amazon.ca, appears to be about $10 more than ******** but delivers by next week from amazon. Weird though not HST added by Amazon.

I have this exact model and after using it for 2 months, it started to have wi-fi issues. I would buy from a manufacturer that has better quality control.

These boxes fluctuate like crazy on Amazon (another s905/1GB box was $40 just yesterday), buying from amazon doesn't only give you quick delivery but 30 days to stress test the box and return it if found defective.

taxes on products "fulfilled (but not sold)" by amazon will vary depending on the actual seller tax profile.

same box $1 less: https://www.amazon.ca/RBSCH-MXQ-TV-Loll ... 01D8JOW7Q/

Is there a list of channels we can get with such a box? Do I get AMC, HBO for free?

You don't get anything for free, but if you are ok with piracy then you need to take the discussion elsewhere ;)

the 10 buck cheaper, non amazon seems to have 5ghz wifi vs just 2.4. Ebay offers a 2gb for 34 usd. They had links at cnx on both these s905 boxes and prices.

Anyone rip these open and see if the wifi is soldered or uses a connector

Has anyone tried running the Shaw FreeRange tv on these or any other boxes and had success?
I tried it on the Inphic I5 and the shows start but then video freezes and sound continues.
