Do I have to do anything as an HBO Max subscriber?
You don't need to do anything. On May 23rd, the HBO Max app will become Max. If you have HBO Max installed, here's what will happen on your devices:
Amazon, Cox, Roku, VIZIO TV, and Xfinity*:
HBO Max will automatically update to Max.
Android, Apple, DIRECTV, LG TV, PlayStation, Samsung TV, and Xbox*:
When you open HBO Max, you'll be prompted to download the Max app.
Either way, HBO Max will become Max. Our Max app will have the HBO Max movies and series that you already love, plus an expanded catalog with favorites from Discovery.
Watch your email in the coming weeks for more info about Max.

Can I keep my HBO Max profiles and settings?
Yes. Your profiles, watch history, and your HBO Max settings will be available in Max. Once Max is available, you will need to redownload your shows and movies on Max.

To sign up you need a Credit Card that issued by U.S financial bank as HBO / now MAX will not accept Canadian cards If you already have a U.S-based credit card or Debit and you can skip this step and sign up directly to MAX using VPN / DNS enabled than click Start streaming

They said it'll be available but not right away. Also, HBO Max will have WW1984 in 4k HDR with Dolby Atmos. Crave TV struggles to have quality 1080p content...
Until they bring official HBO Max to Canada, I will just download the stuff I really want to watch (if not already available on Crave HBO)...Paying $15USD/month and having to watch the stuff over VPN just doesn't feel right, but that's just me...
Warner Bros. has said it will be released to Canadian streaming services on Christmas (they didn't specify but the likely candidate is Crave+HBO).
Yes, it is not 4k but is it really worth signing up for another service?
Easier to just download it in 4k elsewhere anyways.

Yeah I guess if the options are pirating or trying to get around regional restrictions, the cheaper one always wins out.
I'd honestly subscribe and pay for services like these even it was for a single movie/month/etc but as always, waaaaay to much effort.
I mean, I'll still be watching it Christmas night when the kids go to bed, don't you worry, it'll just from the comfort of my cabin aboard my sea faring vessel, yaaar.

Crave already has some HBO Max content.
Until Bell Media contract with Warner Bros. is over or is terminated we will not see HBO Max in Canada
Bell Media’s Crave service carries a considerable chunk of HBO’s programming and a number of HBO Max exclusives, but Warner’s theatrical slate isn’t included in that arrangement.
“They will be coming to Crave following their standard theatrical windows,” the streaming platform said in a statement, noting that Tenet and Wonder Woman 1984, among others, will be available on Crave in 2021. “Our HBO Max deal with Warner Bros includes HBO Max Original Programming produced by Warner Bros. Television Group.”
The Melissa McCarthy comedy Superintelligence was available on Crave day and date with the HBO Max premiere last month, and Steven Soderbergh’s latest, Let Them All Talk, hits the service on December 11.
When asked how the shakeup to 2021’s Warner Bros. film slate will affect Crave, a Crave spokesperson sent the following statement:
As with Wonder Woman 1984, Warner Bros. has decided that in the United States, these films will be released in both theatres and on HBO Max (for a limited period of time). The concurrent window on HBO Max is restricted solely to the United States. Warner Bros. is not making such a window available in any other territory, including Canada.
While these movies will be released initially in theatres in Canada, they will be coming to Crave following their standard theatrical windows. Warner Bros. theatrical titles coming to Crave in 2021 include Tenet, The Witches, Wonder Woman 1984, The Little Things, and more. HBO Max Original Films – such as An American Pickle, Superintelligence, Charm City Kings and the upcoming Let Them All Talk — are all available on Crave, day-and-date with their U.S. premiere.
A reminder that our HBO Max deal with Warner Bros includes HBO Max Original Programming produced by Warner Bros. Television Group. Warner Bros. theatrical titles that come to Crave in a Pay TV window are part of a separate deal.
