Getting 2k resolution from my 2060 to a monitor with only DVI?

Hey guys

I just got monitor yesterday that should be capable of 2560x1440 resolution. However, it only has a DVI input

My HDMI to DVI cable is limiting the res to 1080p. This appears to be the norm across almost all of the adapters I looked at too.

Can anyone provide me with a link to an adapter I can buy that will allow for me to get 2k res?

You need HDMI 1.3 to DVI-D Dual Link adapter, this supports maximum resolution of 2560x1600 (WQXGA)
https://www.staples.ca/products/1496883 ... -hdmi2dvid

If you have a Displayport, you can use a "DisplayPort 1.2a to DVI Active Adapter" which supports maximum resolution of 2560x1600p @60Hz

2k = 2048 x 1080
2560 x 1440 = QHD

I guess that's right at a technical level....but when talking about disolays 2k is almost universally an1440p resolution(monitors, phones, etc)

That's because those people are ignorant. If they stopped to think about it, they would realize that it doesn't make sense. They probably think to themselves, "I could care less." Winking Face

2K = half 4K
4K = 4096 x 2160 (although plebes think it means 3840 x 2160, hence, "4K UHD")
2560 is far more than half of 4096/3840, so how does 2K even make sense? 2.5K would be logical.
