Good all season tires for SUV

So I generally have winter & summer tires. With Covid, I stuck with the winters all last summer and really liked not having to go spend $ having them swapped out and take time out of my day. I was thinking of ditching the process and get 4-season tires when I next need to buy new tires. I am in Qc, so need to have tires that have the "snowflake logo" on them during winter.

We generally only do 10-12000km/y and if the weather is really foul won't go out. So performance in very harsh conditions is not a huge concern. We also have an AWD SUV.

Any suggestions on a 4-season tire that could fit my needs?

PS : Having steelies to swap winter/summer tires is not an option. The wife wants the mags on the car :)

That's not all season or 4 seasons. You are looking at all weather. Look at this thread for options: official-all-weather-tire-thread-2035604/

Although many may not recommend all weather in QC given the amount of snow you get. Also all weather tires' thread goes down really fast in summer.
Before you speak: THINK

I = is it Inspiring?
N = is it Necessary?
K = is it Kind?

“All season” is just marketing, only a winter tire is rated for 7C and below. Only the winter tires will have the logo you mentioned is required.

All Weather and All Season are both marketing terms, a way of trying differentiate for the general customer.

The real test is whether they’re actually rated for winter (I.e mountain snowflake symbol) - both all seasons and all weathers may have it.

Cross climates are probably the best winter rated all season/weather tire available in Canada, but there are a few others that may be an option too.

One thing to be aware of is that North American All Season tires are generally not the same as European All Season tires. The latter are quite often marketed as All Weather tires here to differentiate them from older North American All Seasons. Useful to know when you’re looking at European brands, especially if you end up looking at reviews of those tires done in Europe.

There's also
General AltiMAX 365AW
Kumho Crugen HT51

I like those as they're similar to Michelin LTX that has good longevity and traction in deep snow, plus non-directional for more even tire rotation wear.

Be careful about what the insurance companies view as “winter tires” too, especially if you get winter tire discount on your car.

Most all I've seen just say they need the 3 peak mountain snowflake and have certain times you need them on the vehicle.

Not only do times vary depending on insurance company [seen up to May 31!!] but whether they accept all weather also varies... get in writing [email, letter, text] if a particular agent says acceptable.
2022/3: BOC raised 10 times and MCAP raised its prime next day.
2017,2018: BOC raised rates 5 times and MCAP raised its prime next day each time.
2020: BOC dropped rates 3 times and MCAP waited to drop its prime to include all 3 drops.

Never heard of one yet that doesn't accept the 3 peak symbol, but I guess theirs a first for everything...

I'm thinking that most/all do accept however the info from agents is not always consistent so best to get in writing in some format.

Was very surprised when getting Allstate quote that May 31 was winter tires date.

RBC reps told me that all weather tires don't qualify for winter tire discount.
They, 2 different reps, said if I used the same set of tires all year around, then they are not winter tires.
If anyone has different experience with RBC, please let me know.

And on the other side, all weather tires are not accepted as all season tires for lease return.

It all depends on your insurance and leasing companies.
For me, it is the worst scenario.
