So like $1700 Pre-tax.

It's definitely not good.

You're somewhere between meh and bad because of GPU prices these days. You're basically paying $1000 for the video card + 700 for everything else. Those parts don't amount to 700 and the $1000 is already higher than MSRP.

Without details on the case, motherboard, RAM, warranty etc I def say meh, that's the reality these days.

If that is a retail pre-built system you're probably stuck with a crummy mobo making it not great, but for retail its not a terrible price (in the retail market). If its a custom build from a shop (since you mention tax) I'd say its an average deal at best, again a lot depends on the mobo/case, but it comes down to how much you want a 30xx RTX card since they're still not the easiest of things to get.

If you're savvy enough to gather the parts and build you're own, you'll likely come out with either higher quality over all at the same price range or spend a lot less if you're not particular to retail purchase only on the parts.

Motherboard is crap. Some B450.
RAM is: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/HF3H99 ... 38g16-db10
Case is: https://www.canadacomputers.com/product ... _id=132076
The same build with a 6800xt turns out 100$ less but I wanted to go Nvidia.

I have the receipts for the cpu, gpu, psu, memory, ssd and case.

Overpaying alot for the gpu, but getting a Nvidia gpu at retail seems impossible.

What's my haggle room? What should this PC cost?
I am determined to get a 3070 or 3060ti minimum.

Don't want to line outside BestBuy to get a GPU.

It is a custom build from someone I know.

Haggle Room? 0 If you don't buy it someone will eventually come along you can try to ask for $100 off. This is the reality of the market.
What should this PC cost? The GPU should be in the $700 range MSRP and the rest of that stuff (retail right now):

$370 CPU
$80-100 Mobo
$90 RAM (CL 16 3200Mhz 1.35V that's very middle of the road)
$140 SSD
$130 PSU
$70 Case (that case is meh and OP IMO for what it is.)

It's meh or avg. If he's not ripping you off and you want it then take it. Maybe he paid scalper prices for the GPU.
Like you said GPUs at MSRP is near impossible compared to the US so consider that premium paid as labor to the guy who did line up outside for the GPU.

For me I'm not a fan of the Adata SSD and the RAM but others will disagree with me. The rest of that I wouldn't have gone with those particular parts as the value proposition doesn't seem great (You can get similar performance for less or better for just a tiny bit more money, it's middle of the road.)
It's within spiting distance of better stuff for like $10-20 more.

Where are you located OP? 3070s are coming into stock at stores like Memoryexpress more often. If you're willing to buy a whole new build from them they'll get you a 3070 for sure. Same with Canada computers. Getting a 3070 from best buy is not impossible. Last week I went to check out the line at opening and would've been able to get an EVGA 3070 ticket if i wanted to.

The system listed for basically $2000 is not that great. Like previous poster said you're paying full retail price on the parts and way more for the GPU. Just goto Memory express or Canada computers and they'll sell you all the parts at MSRP.

Canada Computers usually have competitive prices on their prebuilts and their price for that config is around $2k before taxes.

ARMOURY Gaming PC AMD Ryzen 5 5600X GeForce RTX 3070 1TB WD Blue NVMe SSD 16GB RGB RAM Wi-Fi Windows 10 Home
Brand: Armoury
Was: $2,199.00
$1,999.00

Granted the parts may not be the same brands/quality, your system may be an OK deal for that configuration.

I've been following online BestBuy drops a since January and haven't gotten a single card yet. I hear the new thing now is wait for them to update their blog and then lineup at the stores mentioned in the blogs. But unless these drops happen on the weekends my 9 to 5 won't allow me to do that.

So the custom PC is definitely better than those two Armoury PC's. Price and parts quality wise.

But I guess I'll have to look into bundle pricing to see if I can get a better deal on the GPU and then buy the rest at retail.

Wait how did everyone miss this part? A system with a 5600X and 6800XT for $1900 CAD tax included is a hell of a deal. The 6800XT is noticeably faster than the RTX 3070.

I built something pretty similar back in February and it cost me around 2200 plus taxes.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black 55 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI MPG B550 GAMING EDGE WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
Storage: Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB XC3 ULTRA GAMING Video Card
Case: Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA G5 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Case Fan: Phanteks PH-F120SK 50 CFM 120 mm Fan

So for a prebuilt I would say it's a decent price and it could hardly go below that.
