I'm waiting for the pixel 4a to replace my pixel 1. I agree there is no point to drop $1000 when an equally good phone for non-gamers is only $500.
lol you can even get the gamer phone RP2 for $439

Why not just get a better phone and install Gcam? You can get significantly superior tech in the same price range as the 3A

Make sure you try it at the store and like the results... Or download the Google camera app which should be relatively close.

I find that the pictures were overly processed, probably due to a single lens. I was planning to buy the pixel but ended up getting the s9+ at a koodo sale.

Overly processed? Not so. The Pixel by far has the best camera, beating any iPhone or S10 series phone, by far.

Naw

The Pixel has decent hardware that is paired with great software. The cameras tend to have too much a pink hue in shots. The S10 has a WAY better camera than the Pixel, especially if you install Gcam on it.

Oddly enough, budget flagships may actually have the best cameras out there. The IMX586 is the best sensor on the market right now. Paired with good glass and Gcam software, it is the photography king.

People gotta realize photo quality is mostly subjective, pick a phone that produces photos YOU like. (see MKBHD's blind photo tests)

That being said (and as a personal Pixel camera fan), Google produces the best quality photo more times than not. It doesn't matter if XXX phone can have better pics after downloading YYY app and using ZZZ filters. The average user want to whip out their phone and get crispy photos every time. Google Pixel does that, no hassle. Bokeh all the shittttttttttttt

As someone who has owned Pixel XL and Pixel 3XL, they are very much alike in terms of performance. I recently switched back to my Pixel XL, didnt feel a dramatic decrease in terms of performance. Pixel 3XL was just as laggy as Pixel XL...

Given the overly hyped up reviews online, it is a disappointing to use it to find out that it's not as good as it should be -- in my opinion anyway. Whether it's related to screen color calibration or actual hardware itself, it doesn't deliver out of the box like a flagship should.

It is overly processed and pretty easy to see on the actual pixel hardware as well as on the gcam app.

My recommendation is to try out the pixel camera before you commit to avoid disappointment.

Sure, but most people that care this much about photo quality aren't your average user. They are the kind of person that will take the 2 minutes to download and install Gcam

The software can be amazing. Look at how it turns a "dogshit" camera like the Razer Phone 2 into something high level

At this point, just wait until Google announce sPixel 4 and if the changes/enhancements are not significantly better then stick with the P3 with bigger discounts
