Straight from the pages...
Now only $199.
The powerful and affordable smartphone from Google — now at an even lower price. Was $309, get it now for just $199!

If you don't get it refresh the pages, the store is updating to the new prices.

Too cheap.

If I didn't already have one I'd buy one in heartbeat.

But why the crazy drop? The next Nexus should be more than a couple months away.

The Canadian Google Play Store now has the 8 GB model for $199 and the 16 GB model for $249!
Obviously this means that a replacement is imminent, but it's still an incredible deal for a fantastic phone completely SIM-free. The phone will also work with Rogers/Bell/Telus LTE with a very simple hack.

Why does Google destroy any value that these devices have? This is a hot deal

Most likely clearing stock for the incoming Nexus 4 refresh in November. They did the same thing with the GNex.

Any word on what improvements the refreshed version will have?

Just saw on Engadget that the nexus 4 8gb has dropped in price to $199.

Hopefully the Canadian store will get the same drop.

Not that I've seen. Probably Snapdragon 600/1080p screen and LTE, much of the same really or maybe they'll use the new N7's SOC which still uses the N4's GPU, the Adreno 320.
