I am considering pre-ordering the GPD Win 2 Game console. It is currently crowd-funding on Indiegogo for US $649. Anyone have opinions about this?

Intel integrated 615 graphics won't play aaa games, get real. It's a nice device for emulators and much older windows games. On top of that emulators run flawlessly on shield portable and at less than half the price...

Paying full price for an item is a sin.

This sounds like something that will be obsolete before it's even released, assuming the "AAA game" claim is real.

No way I would be laying down over $800 CAD on something like this.

My last and final digital game I purchased at PSN from those Sony Devils was on November 22, 2020 - Ban that Sorny!

I bought the original one and immediately preordered this one. It does play AAA games since it only has a 720p screen. The Phawx on Youtube has almost 80 videos showing many AAA games running great.
I preordered not just for the games, but also having a powerful pocketable laptop is a dream for many UMPC enthusiasts.
This is expensive and yes it has a small market but for those that need it, there is nothing else on the market like it.

playing it on low settings is not the same
i doubt it can handle real triple AAA games like creed origins or witcher 3 or final fantasy xv or call of duty ww2 on medium to high settings.
it prob can't even play rocket league on max settings and thats a indie game.

good for emulation up to ps2(optimized settings) and wii upscaled. might be decent for strategy games other than that cant expect much without a gpu. Its definitely a nice device though, too rich for my blood.

think first, buy later.

sure your phone can do that but it has the worst gaming experience across all handheld devices.
gotta play android/ios collecting games with micro transactions and 2-3 hour battery life for games with really high graphics

or you can pay for remakes of handheld/console games that cost several times more than on those devices

I was only refering to the argument that the hacked Switch can't do youtube & cie (excluding gaming) and the phone is a WAY better platform to do everything non-game related than the GPD WIN 2.

IF a Switch would be a better gaming platform, the absence of youtube & cie wouldn't really be an argument here.

I currently own both the Switch and the GPD Win 1st Gen. I love the Switch but it's really just like a $400 underpowered tablet that has 5 or 6 good games that cost me 70 bucks each. My GPD Win is the one I use more after BotW. Emulating PS2 and GameCube/Wii is probably one of the best things about it. Not only that but all those Xbox games were released for Windows and run pretty damn good on it. Playing Cuphead, God of War or Gears of War on a handheld is the best
