GPS tracker for people

RFD,

Can you recommend any GPS tracker/app?

My colleage at work is visiting/trekking in India and Nepal in the coming weeks with his friends.

He was inquiring about sometihng like that........ (for general safety)

If using iPhone, you can use the "find my friends" feature..

The problem with using a cell phone app is that there may not be cellular coverage everywhere when "trecking in Nepal". Sounds like these units with satellite communication service are just what the OP wants. Expensive at $300-$450 plus monthly fee of about $15 for satellite sevice, but not unreasonable for the purpose.

Thanks. I'll look into it. I'll look for local currency. I left Canada in 2011 hehe.
