GTA Restaurants During Pandemic UPDATED Sat, July 18

New restaurants added Sat, July 18

I excluded restaurants that already have deal threads. Below is a list of some deals. Most apply to takeout, ordered direct (eg not on delivery apps). Feel free to contribute & I will update OP, ideally restaurants that are not big chains as most people already know their deals, & not deals on delivery apps as they change almost daily & restaurants often pay 30% or more. Deals subject to change, please verify directly

If restaurants are struggling and you want to help, wouldn't it be better to pay full price?

They are all restaurants that I've ordered from in the past, before there was ever any pandemic. These are restaurants that I personally enjoyed, & will continue to do so when I can. I never said anything about me being a good guy. Some people just choose to always see the negative in everything, take it however you like. I've also tipped on these takeout orders, but I didn't know we had to show you we are well intentioned before posting this

Went to pick up Dakgogi the other day and got boneless half and half of Padak (green onion chicken) and hot soy garlic. Got fries on the side as it didn't come with any. Highly recommend the Padak. Probably wanna skip out on the fries and get another fried side. However, portions were really generous and they even threw in a couple of coke cans to boot (YMMV). Tried almost all the fried chicken places near Yonge/Finch and Sheppard but definitely top three for me so far. Definitely check it out if you live nearby!

(and no I don't work there)

St louis has some takeout specials, and they take orders online. I got a free bottle of their dill sauce with one of the specials, 5lb, wings, 1lb fries and 4 pops with sauce bottle for 49.99.
Not the best, but if you are craving wings.

Thanks OP

Great list, I been to a few of them and looking to try the other ones

Astoria (Greek) Buy 1 Chicken/Pork Souvlaki dinner, get 1 free
Where did you see this promo? Was it listed at the storefront? I wasn't able to find this anywhere.

I got it from the Toronto location, it is listed on their Facebook. You can mix & match eg order 1 chicken dinner, get 1 pork dinner free. Portions are generous, even the "small" dinner is more than enough IMO (YMMV)

To add a few:

Ja Bistro has a limited takeout menu but everything is 30% off. High end sushi place.

https://www.jabistro.com/menus/#takeout-20200402

Archive Wine Bar is selling wine at a discount. Unclear exactly what the discount but over the phone, they told me 50% off regular prices +$10. I can't 100% confirm that's the discount but just wanted to support them anyway.

Other wine deals:

Normally, you can't really buy a mixed case from these wine agents but they have one on special right now with wines specifically picked by The Star's wine writer.
https://www.thestar.com/life/food_wine/ ... ating.html

Liberty Group also selling a trio of wines at a discount but sold out for April already.

I have been working on a similar list, but running it out of a Google MyMaps since it is easier to show on a map.

Restaurants offering Takeout (Mapped)

#1 favourite by far on my list is Boat King of Thai Noodles at Bay/College, the Khao Soi is #1, which tastes great with the provided noodles, or on the next day with fresh rice I make myself at home. The red/green/yellow curries are good too.
25% off takeout for the general public, 40% off for healthcare workers. This is off of what I consider already very reasonable prices for DT core (original price $12/meal before discount).

I tried their takeout menu when they first offered half off. Honestly, i loved their dine in, but i found their take out menu to be small and.... not as good. Others may find it to be worth it. Just my take

Guys, if you do visit any smaller restaurants and especially those with discounts, please make sure to put in a more than usual generous tip.

Food is already very low margin and lots will have to close if they aren't able to survive this pandemic.

People are struggling too with money. This works well for both.

Would it be better? Yeah. Would it be even better if you pay 200% menu price? Yeah.

But would getting more business, even at 30% off, be better than none? I’m gonna guess yeah. So you are helping, even if you get a discount.

Definitely check out Pita Golden Pocket. Best Shwarma and falaffel on the planet! Crazy generous portions. You wont eat the rest of the day. Hours are 11-5 M-F so go for lunch or pick up for an early dinner. I believe they use halal chicken as well but may want to call and confirm.
