GTX 1080 OC vs 5700 XT

Hi Gents,

I'm fielding some feedback on which graphics card path to go down. I'm nearly finished my Ryzen 3800X build.

I have two options moving forward:
1) Part out my GTX 1080 Mild OC card for the Ryzen 3800X build, buy a $300 replacement card for the old system.
2) Buy a 5700 XT partner board.

The GTX 1080 is only 1 year old, mainly light use. If I go with option 1, I'll be picking up an RX 2XX board or GTX 1660 for around $300 to put in the gutted machine. Otherwise I'm spending the upwards of $550 for a 5700XT card with a current max performance delta of 15%, perhaps 20% after driver maturation, over the GTX 1080.

What do you folks think?

Heff it.

I bought an RX 2XX board arriving Monday.

I'll swap it out in my old build and take my GTX 1080 to my new workstation.

No point overbuilding an office workstation.

One of the deal killers was no HDMI 2.1 on the 5700XT. I already have HDMI 2.0 on my GTX 1080.

Turns out there are issues with the RX 590 and VR. I went with the 1660TI instead for only a little more, destined for the older system.

I'm parting out the GTX 1080 from that old system to my new 3800X system.
