If Sony planned to be wildly more expensive (Or just not base pricing on Series X) they wouldn't have been doing this cold war dance for the last six weeks.

I'm going with $599/$529.

I would expect they will just let the base PS4 at a new lower price bundled with some digital games do the fight for the 1080p budget conscious person for the next year. Perhaps a hardware refresh for it as well.

Standard edition - $599.99
Digital edition - $499.99

The Canadian pricing will be interesting as we're a small market compared to the US. I'd bet good money that the PS5 standard edition will cost $499 USD. MS gave Canadians a break by pricing the X about $60 under the exchange rate. Who knows if Sony will do the same.

I still think $599 Digital and $699 Disc.

I think Microsoft is taking a big loss on each console sold (especially on Series S) and with All Access + Gamepass subscriptions can recoup the loss faster. I don't think Sony can eat the hardware cost as much as MS can out of the gate.

It's funny how MS is giving us Canadians a break on the USD/CAD exchange rate, but in Europe, they are basically doing $1 = 1€ when the actual USD/€ exchange rate is 1.18 as of today (In Europe the Series S is 299€ and Series X is 499€). So Europeans are paying quite a bit more than Canadians in USD equivalent. I think Microsoft anticipates they will just break even or maybe take a small loss in some markets like Canada but they will make up for it in other markets like Europe.

I'm pretty sure this is because the Euro price (and the GBP price) both include Value Added Tax whereas USD and CAD do not.

Yikes I'll take the disc version lol..or wait it's $100 less without hmm Smiling Face With Open Mouth And Cold Sweat

Probably matches the Xbox price so $599 for disc, depends on whether all digital is $50 or $100US less.

Sony will have to match MS's pricing, disc $599 CAD. If they go for more than that people will be more inclined to buy Series X. This is a razor and handle business.

We still come out $100 better than Europe for the Series X even after tax.

Well, let's all thank Microsoft that most of us were wrong in a good way. Most places are saying Sony dropped the price once they found out what Microsoft was charging for Series S/X.
