Guess the Xbox Series X price (Canadian$$$)

I'm going to guess $649 Canadian.

I hope I'm wrong as I'm hoping for $599 Canadian or less.

I'm hoping the S will be $399 but I think it would be $499 at launch.

Xbox Series X -> $699.99 (I like the guess that this would include a subscription to game pass for a year)

Xbox Series S -> $499.99

Was it leaked in the States? Some monster energy drink promotion or something was $599 USD so that would make it $749 Cdn. And no Halo till next year. Yikes

As we have already stated, this is a situation where currency exchange rates will not match. If indeed $599 US look for it to be $679CDN.

I'll go with Series X @ $679.99 and Series S @ $499.99

Is there any word of a Canadian promo like they do with cell phones? Rent to own bundles with Game Pass etc?

Yes. This promo already exists in the US. You can buy an Xbox with game pass included for a monthly fee on a 2 year plan or whatever. MS is trying really hard with large retailers to bring this program to as many countries around the world as possible. This could be a mic drop moment. Instead of paying $500-$600 one shot, paying $25 bucks a month could be an easy way to jump into next gen. We will see.

There is 0 chance they'll bump the conversion from 75¢-ish to 88.2¢. That's $90 USD less per unit. Xbox are reasonably generous compared to PlayStation and Nintendo, and many other consumer electronics. . . but they're not that generous.

Depending on where CAD is when they announce the price, maybe $600 USD would go down to $750 CAD. But probably not even that.

I'm thinking $499 USD / $699 CDN for the Xbox Series X (and PlayStation 5).

And $399 USD / $549 CDN for the Xbox Series S (and PS5 Digital Edition).

I think both companies will lose money on hardware in the beginning. But they need to have strong sales momentum at launch.

A former game journalist and current YouTuber/content creator Alanah Pearce shared that a retail source confirmed that it'll be $599 as well. I guess time will tell - weren't they supposed to have an August showcase where they were supposedly going to show more hardware (Series S)? Haven't heard anything about it yet and we're almost 2/3 through the month

About the $599 USD leak... that was likely Microsoft's initial MSRP they'd like to go into the market at, but was intended to be flexible. They haven't made an announcement yet as they are trying to gauge the PS5 price so they don't end up with the launch issues the Xbox One had again (priced $100 more). I bet we see the Series X launch at $549 USD (maaaaayyybe even $499 USD if PS5 launches at $499),

In regards to the CAD conversion, i highly doubt it'll be an exact exchange rate conversion. If it launches too high in Canada people won't buy it. Microsoft wants users for its platform/subscription services and would prioritize that over profits on the console itself. The idea would be to have it cost less in Canada, but not so much less that someone in America would want to go through the hassle to buy it from Canada.

I am guessing that it'll launch at $550 USD and sell for $679 CAD
