H&R block? how much?

How much does it cost to get a H&R Block to do your personal taxes? Is it a one time fee or do they get a percentage based on your income or return? Are there any other alternatives to H&R Block? thanks

where I belong
I think it's $29.95 per year, my brother just did 4 years for like $120 (+ tax too I guess, ha ha). but for Students ONLY? I'm not sure

In return, he got 4 Dominos free medium pizza coupon (1 topping only)
the coupon claims its retail value is $11.95. I used 1 already, not bad

Besides that, I guess look for software, or those cheap Student-run tax services? or tax services in the mall?

how complicated do you think your taxes will be? unless your writing off a load of stuff and are dealing with just basic income and some RRSP's, just do it yourself at ufile.ca very straightforward and cheap.

I believe I heard they take a percentage of any return you might get, in addition to their fee?

only if you do cash back.
other than that it's a fee, but it does vary. I've been charged up to 70 dollars there and as low as 30. What it varies on? I have no clue.

You should try doing the taxes yourself first, it's really not that hard! Just fill in the boxes! Most of the boxes do not pertain to you anyway. Just transfer info from your T4, T5 etc and follow the arrows! It's fun and allows you to learn a thing or 2 about taxes so you won't get ripped off!

I agree with ud666. It's not THAT hard...it's even easier if you do it online using one of the many online tax programs. I used Ufile.ca and it was super easy. Filed online too. Give it a try!

thanks for the suggestions...

Ya, i know it's not that hard. I've done it before but i found out that i screwed up some stuff from last year's return. Anyways, I just want a professional to look over it and perhaps correct it. Hoping it won't cost more than $100. Anybody got coupons for H&R Block?
